I will and do gladly acknowledge errors-point it out to me and I'll look at or correct it. If if's vital I'll include it.

I reserve the right to change the format, as we are dealing with multiple years and multiple formats. One example is the way you and I deal with mixed results. It's a women's tennis forum, so the female comes first in mixed results.

Another difference exists with commas. I find them a nuisance as well as taking up space. Leave them in your format or results-that's fine. Don't expect me to include them.

Others original contributions are there for the record for those who wish to compare.

Comments are welcome. But don't throw stones without expecting to have them hurled back at you: note your own spelling error above. Surely not the first or last. Quite often that you have difficulty owning up to your own errors. I've can't recall seeing an "excuse me" or "sorry", etc.

Contributions added-thank you.

The Castle Wemyss in West of Scotland (demolished in 1984) was in Wemyss Bay, Inverclyde.

From "The Field", June 19, 1897: "Saturday. The Beckenham Cricket Club Grounds were seen to advantage this afternoon, the weather being beautifully bright and fine, although too sultry for the players to show at their very best; it was wonderful that they could play at all, so extreme was the heat. Special arrangements had been made as to the courts in the expectation that some 2,000 spectators would be looking on during the afternoon, and this expectation was certainly fulfilled. The two centre single courts were netted round in a large circle, and this gave almost everyone a chance of witnessing the best matches, while those who preferred seeing the doubles had the same advantage in another part of the ground. The two centre courts were in grand condition, playing very true and well, this being all the more wonderful as no part of the cricket pitch was touched upon. [...]

"Last year Miss Austin won the Beckenham Cup outright, so this tournament she played through the rounds, and once again gained the Kent Open Championships, not finding one of her opponents able to win a set from her except Miss Becher."
