According to the Herald Sun, 8 of the top 10 are here. As well as Azarenka, Kerber, Kvitova, Errani and Wozniacki all playing in Brisbane.

I've just read the relevant section of the WTA rule book for 2012 and I still don't understand what is going to happen. Last year Sydney had 5 out of the top 6 and 8 out of the top 10 despite being a $637K.

well done brisbane.... I guess Errani and Kerber didn't want to use their International event this week....
I rekcon Sydney will be pretty bad this year. Sharapova never plays and reckon Serena and Azarenka will give it a miss. Radwanska not a certainty.
It will still probs have Stosur, Li, Errani, Kerber(maybe return to Hobart using her Int.), Wozniaki
But without the big 3, Sernea, Venus& Sharpova will lose its lust
