Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
^^
Wildcards based on such trivial thing like nationality would make this game totaly unfair, I wonder if you would be up for it if you were not German.
People play this game week from week trying to earn points and get their ranking up and then there would be some more privilleged players who get WCs in home tournaments.
You can't compare real WTA tour where it's all about money and national tennis associations giving WCs to home players.
In TT money doesn't play a role, it's a game of everyone.

Oh great, I COULD get 1! WC in the whole season for a WTA event yeah, that's why I'm up for this rule, because of the possibility of getting 1! WC
also, I said it would be only 1 WC per tournament and also only 1 WC per player for the whole season.
Yeah, but they don't give the WCs to home players because of the money but because of they are from this country...we should do the same IMO.

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
WCs for defending champion(s) would be OK, if they aren´t able to make the MD directly!
Everything else won´t happen anyway as those WCs would never be 100% fair or objective anyway and that is what matters most in a game like TT!
But that would be totally ok anyway, we have now SEs, Protected Rankings, maybe that "new WC" for former champion, more than enough!

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
we have PR?
then we also should give WCs to one home player...and in real life it isn't 100% fair as well
just let us vote for it and done

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
Voting is not always the best way to make a decision. This rule would lead to that much crying/discussions that the board should make the decision.

1 wc for player, for the whole year, why should there be crying?

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
If WC's were issued, then would they be just for International tournaments or would they be for Prems, Prem 5, Prem Mandatorys or Grand Slams? Then we have the possibility of bitching because one player got a WC to a Slam (because he/she was a home player) and another player could only ever get a WC for an International.
The whole idea is totally unmanageable, so why is it even being discussed here? Yes, real life isn't 100% fair but TT is a game which should be fair to all players and we should keep it this way.

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
didn't read the "only 1 WC per year" part. That makes the rule a bit better but I still think that it would be unfair to give WCs to local players (like Andelko said).

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
well, they have to decide where they want their WC the manager can decide based on ranking or current results
would be an extra for the game, why don't we give it a try, before making it all down without trying

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
For WC into GS, could we have a WC Playoff(the week before the QD starts)
I believe the actual grand slam's allocate some WC's to WC playoff winners...
Also for GS, you can look at the actual grand slam and see how many wild cards are given and why they given.

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
OK, the board has discussed the suggestions for rule changes and we have reached some decisions. Thanks to everyone who has suggested rule changes, and even if your suggestions haven't been adopted, the ideas were appreciated.
a poll will be created for the following:
1/ abolition of countforward rule
2/ changes to doubles commitment rules
3/ should top 30-ranked players be allowed to play any ITFs?
rules which have been adopted:
1/ we will make clear rules for when it is ok for a manager to have a 2-day rd1 as meelis suggested.
2/ every match will now be an SR match, as Frederik suggested. it isn't a big deal, but it makes sense not to limit it to 15.
Of all the other rule changes that were suggested, the one which we aren't having a poll for but which got some support was the wildcard rule. Our reasons for not allowing wildcards are very simple. Firstly, it would lead to a lot of fighting and bitching unless the board laid down very strict rules and took to do with it ourselves. Even if we did that and had a maximum of 1 WC per year and made sure to only grant WCs to former champions and/or players from the country of that tourney, it would give certain players from certain countries an unfair advantage. as well as that, it would be taking away even more main draw slots from players who have earned it by their ranking. already we have 2 "SE" slots, and this is more than enough as far as extras go in my opinion.
in short, the board is totally opposed to the idea of wildcards, so it won't be happening.

Re: TT Rule Changes For 2013
I was always wondering, didn't see that you discuss it yet, but why we have team race for YEC, not players. It's very hard to find permanent double partner

its just the way we've always done it because we copied real life.
on mtf we once had a situation where myself and SloKid were joint 16th in the race because we played together all year. we had to choose between us which of us went to the YEC
