Re: Most shocking losses this year?

Virginie.Ranked #111, had barely win a match coming to RG, was ill and still beat Serena

PS : Robson beating a half-retired Kim or Vinci double bageling Ana weren't really shocking imo.

Re: Most shocking losses this year?

Serena to Razzano.

That's the only loss that surprised me. Otherwise, the complete annihilation of Maria S in the Olympic gold final was a surprise. I thought Sharapova would have a little more to give for gold. "Not today, baby," said Serena, to quote Rennae Stubbs in the commentary booth.

Serena was injured at AO,and Makarova was on fire. So, great win for her, and no shock.

A golden set wasn't good enough?

Speaking of it, the Golden set was a shock. A Wild Card in Shvedova winning the Golden set against a top 10 player who was in good form.

Serena vs Razzano takes the cake though

Any loss by the legendary Serena "Lordrena" Jamekus Christ is a shocking loss.

Re: Most shocking losses this year?

I still don't understand what happened after that second set TB. Serena was sobbing at the change of ends and then practically gave up until 05 at which point she had already dug herself a grave too big to get out of.

Wozniacki's R1 at Wimbledon, she was playing so well. Never saw her hit her forehand well like that and she still lost having had MP .

I don't know why I seem to be alone in this, but I found Serena's loss to Makarova completely baffling.
