My issue is just how long the process is. I can handle a heavy course load, but I'm basically gonna be in school until I'm 30.
Yeah, most advisors want you to start thinking/ preparing about the med school since at the end of your sophomore year. Getting into med schools is like one of the most difficult things ever, they say

Same here. I don't mind a shit load of work, but I really hate the long-term years that you have to spend at school/ studying/ doing research, etc

Cool. So we are in the same boat, I am guessing

As for studying tips, it's easy: finish your work first, then do whatever you want Yeah, that's pretty much what I do

In all seriousness, form a study group. It definitely helps, especially when you are doing something like Chemistry workshop, Calculus problems. Plus, I try to finish some of the work during breaks between classes at library cause the atmosphere gives you better focus. At home, I am mostly meh.

The only problem I have sometimes is my self-indulgence. It's so hard

You need to be motivated and to like it. If you can handle it but don't like what you are gonna do, welp... good luck !!! I admire you guys
Quebec is even more retarded

After high school, you have two years of CEGEP (or pre-university), which is what I'm completing at the moment. If your average is high enough, you can get into med school right after CEGEP. But I won't be able to cause my grades have been good, but not exceptional. So I'm gonna do an undergrad (un baccalaureat ) in something health-related and apply to med school afterwards.

Love it. Bio can be a real pain in the ass (O Chem this semester has been torture) but it's worth it because the classes are so varied and cover so much material. Psych's a lot easier and I've enjoyed basically all of my classes in it, even stats surprisingly

Have you thought about a major yet?

But what's the equivalent of our own highschool? CEGEP ?
and not everyone can apply to med school? i mean, of course you need a specific grade to go there, but are your marks deciding that for sho?

I'm only after saying likely Medicine but still unsure. You guys seems to have it so complicated. In the UK pretty much every degree is specialised so you have a clearer career plan.

Yep. I'm still considering just getting a Psy.D and working for the army because they'll pay for my grad school and I'm guaranteed a job. I'm still not totally sure I can last through med school and residencies and everything that comes later.

So is that like a major in Biology and a minor in psychology or is that like an actual program?

I definitely want something that I'll find interesting, somewhat "easy" (as easy as a health-related major can get), and that'll prepare me for med school. So far I've been looking at biology, anatomy and & cell biology, physiology and biochemistry. But physio and biochem are fucking hard apparently so I probably won't go into either

No no, high school is high school everywhere

It's like this here: elementary school (6 years), high school (5 years), CEGEP (2 years), university (how long depends on the student of course).

Anyone can apply, but you won't necessarily get in. You need a certain average to be considered because it's extremely competitive. Plus you need a shit ton of extracurricular activities, to show that you're not just a nerd who stays up till 4AM every day to study. You gotta have a life

That's ridiculous !!!! what about these super shy but extremely smart students ? or these more than average students who will surpass themselves to actually become doctors ? yes I knew an average student at highschool, he is now at his 7th year

also i don't see how extracurricular activities are necessary to being a good student in med

That sounds so complicated

The painful part about all of this uni/med school is that it's not finished once you are done with it. You have to start worrying about jobs prospects/ salary and shit
