Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
wow, great win
they are number 18 in the race to the YEC obviously, no way they make it, but this bodes well for a doubles seeding at AO!

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
darija's two biggest results have come when she's entered as an alt at the last second very lucky, but it goes to show how hard it is to break into the top tournaments given the small draw sizes

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
In the QF, Darija/Marosi play Lisicki/Raymond. It's a big match for Darija: the winners get an additional 170 points and $7,400 each (beyond what they get for having won their R1 match).
Lisicki/Raymond are unseeded but Raymond is co-#3 in the world

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Darija/Marosi are playing in Beijing. They drew a WC pair in R1. Unfortunately it wasn't one of the local WCs but rather Jankovic/Petkovic. Still, Petkovic is in bad form and Jankovic is far from her best, so it's a decent draw given the level of tournament.
Good luck to Darija/Marosi. One win is worth 140 points!

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Good draw, I agree. The way they've been playing, a win wouldn't surprise me one bit. Fingers crossed!

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Lost 3 & 1. So much for my prediction that they actually have a shot here

I haven't checked, but scorewise this is probably one of their worst losses as a team.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Darija lost in the qualies of Osaka to Aoyama in straights which is not a nice news, but on the bright side, this probably means she'll be in the doubles draw.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
The 3rd seeds Jurak/Marosi defeated Chang/Lertcheewakarn 4:6, 6:4, 10:7 - I knew this one could be tricky, but the important thing is that they're through

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
^ Great!
They next play the unseeded team of Lykina/Puchkova, who advanced past Daniilidou/Tanasugarn with a walkover. (This is good news, as D/T have a combined ranking of 156 while L/P's combined ranking is only 455.) Good luck!
By the way, it's great to see Darija seeded in doubles at WTA events. It makes it much easier to win matches and as such is an excellent reward for her hard work and solid performance this past year.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Darija/Marosi beat Lykina/Puchkova easily, 1 and 2
In the SF they will likely play the top-seeded team of Kops-Jones/Spears.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Unfortunately, this won't have virtually any effect on Darija's ranking, not because she's defending (she's not, this week), but because when we take mandatories into consideration, she needs about 120 points to make any move if my calculations are right - and this SF brings 130. That's the downside of being a top 50
P. S. Anyone else noticed Darija's wonderful new photo on her WTA profile?! Do check it out!

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
A tough loss to top seeds today (1 & 2), but still a very good week

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Darija/Marosi are playing Moscow this week (unseeded). In R1 they beat Craybass/Hrdinova (also unseeded) 63 64
In the QF they'll play either the #4 seeds, Shvedova/Srebotnik, or Pavlyuchenkova/Safarova.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread
Darija reached a new CH ranking in doubles this week: 47, up from 48
She's defending only 130 points until May so she has a good chance to go even higher.
