Hmmm. Do you think changing up her preparation will mean something for her mentally, when it comes to RG?

I disagree w/ that. You have to evolve and adapt. Every surface isn't going to cater to your game (even if it is clay). He was being a pansy and complaining profusely because he wasn't able to dominate on that surface.

Re: Serena's 2013 Clay Court Strategy

Train a lot with Patrick at his Paris academy in the spring, talk about clay strategy and get the right mental attitude with him. That's all she needs at this point in order to hope to win RG again. Just playing a MM red clay tourney and Rome would be a good idea. I don't think she should play indoors Stuttgart and high altitude Madrid. Different conditions than RG.

I just don't enjoy Madrid at all myself. But I definitely think a change-up of some sort would help mentally, even if it was only on the practice courts, a change in training methods, who she works with. A change in training or schedule/tournament-focus (i.e. more on Rome less on Madrid) could help instil a change in mentality. God knows I can't stand this edgy, choking person that always shows up at RG.

Maybe that change has already happened if things continue to go well with Patrick.

You just have to look at Kvitova winning in 2011 despite her game being wholly unsuitable for clay - giving a beatdown to a player who would beat her at RG a few weeks later. The 2010 Madrid finalists did awfully at RG too. Stuttgart and Rome have ALWAYS Been better indicators of who will do well at RG (actually, Stuttgart's been the best indicator of all in recent years, which makes sense seeing as they specifically import the same clay that RG use).
why stopping at 2010 Dinara was only one who had some RG success after her Madrid run in 2009.

Being "fast" means jackshit on clay. Wozniacki is far better mover than Maria, still cant do anything on clay with her movement because she doesnt slide well and doesnt use it in her game. These kind of small adjustments are important.
Of course Serena's game is enough good to ignore any movement most of the time.

Re: Serena's 2013 Clay Court Strategy

I think Serena may only play the red clay events to prove a point... If she wins the Australian Open next year though the pressure will be huge to hold all 4 grand slams.

Re: Serena's 2013 Clay Court Strategy

When she has a goal - there is no stopping her. Now that she's claimed that elusive OG in singles, I have no doubt she's eyeing at least one or two more FOs to balance her resume.

Step.

The best strategy is to pray she doesn't get Razzano in the first round again

if she gets another French, for me, she's the GOAT. I totally believe she'll do it next year.

I would like to see Serena play Stuttgart instead of Charleston next year.

Re: Serena's 2013 Clay Court Strategy

She should pick up a MM South American clay court tournament or two. I think if she were to play some scrappier clay courters it would really help her game in the early rounds of the FO. Aren't there a couple right before IW?

I`m pretty sure that even if Williams takes AO she won`t change her casual shedule and, mainly, attitude to win 4 GS in a row again. She has already done it. No, SW will focus on other 3 GS, Miami and 3-4 other competitions if health allows.

U need some sleep! I'm developing Migraine already just reading your nonsense.

Re: Serena's 2013 Clay Court Strategy

Stuttgart
Rome
Roland Garros

could be a good schedule with some serious training in between.

i think her best bet is to bomb out early in all in recent years she's done well when everyone is talking about how crap she is on clay
