Yeah, but AO, USO and the majority of tournaments are mainly played on outdoor HC! And I still think Vika can snatch one Wimbledon title

Re: Where does Azarenka go from here?

Pretty simple. Work on deficiencies, improve serve, win more matches, win more slams and not to rest on her laurels and current achievements. She's pretty perfectionistic, so she'll only want to get even better rather than simply saying 'well I'm #1, I've won a slam, I don't need to raise the tempo'.

I hope she continues this kind of play. It's fantastic for women's tennis, and she will force you to beat her, while she still has enough power to hang in with the big girls.

Does anyone think Azarenka will be able to defend her Australian Open title in January?

I say there's a 90% chance that the final will be Vika - Serena so yes, definitely in the cards.

Ask Serena.
More seriously, if she had won the US I would have said yes but you could see how much it meant to her to win a second major and one over Serena. I just don't see this happening in Australia but she should reach the semis, no problem at all.

Can you just slow down a bit with all your big proclamations? You did the same stupid thing with Wozniacki. She still hasn´t reached another Grand Slam final or won one of the other major titles (YEC/Olympics). There is a 50% chance, they´ll be in the same half. Even if they are in opposing halfs there is no virtual guarantee. We have had a different finals combination in every major going back all the way to Venus vs. Serena Wimbledon 2008.

I'm just going by probability, Vika has been in two straight HC finals, Serena has been in two straight slam finals now.

You`re of course right about the draw of course but still, my prediction that they`ll meet either in the SF or F stands, simply by looking at their form.

It's also visible that there's more stability coming to the tour, the days of ever-changing slam finals are probably over for now. This year, three players have made up 3/4 of all slam finals so again, I don't see how it is an unreasonable prediction.

Maybe he's saying, 'what happens this year, is no guarantee of what's happening, going to happen next year'?

And it's true (especially when player X is not blessed with superlative offensive skills or weapons).

You just gotta wait and see.

What's an Azarenka to do?

I will kill you now. Vika has the mental toughness that Ana completely lacked, and moves better.

If Vika is half the competitor I think she is, she should be chomping at the bit for another shot at Serena after that US Open Final. As far as picking up more slams, really, she has a outstanding chance if Serena bows early--which I think there's a good chance of happening given her track record of injuries and inconsistency--and I think she can take Serena on hardcourt with a little more work on her serve and a little luck. Of course, Serena can take her, too.

But it's quite simple. Where Vika needs to go from here is to beat Serena in the late rounds of a major while holding onto the #1 ranking. Then, and only then, will the torch be passed.

I know right. He's so full of Vika suddenly, it's annoying.
