Linz might once again get screwed...
Well they have their Topstar for this year: Victoria Azarenka. However, Azarenka is still playing in Beijing and she played an awful lot of matches this year. Will she really turn up for this MM? Petra Kvitova, the defending champion, also signed up but wasn't allowed to enter because Linz can only get one Top 10 player with Azarenka having priority due to her ranking. If Azarenka doesn't show up, they would've had the chance to give a last minute WC to Kvitova. However, they already used all their WCs, giving them to Petkovic, Ivanovic and Mayr-Achleitner ( ).
Do you guys think Vika will show up for this? And personally I don't like this 1 Top 10 player maximum. If Petra wants to play this event, let her play

Re: Linz might once again get screwed...
One WC is still left
Petkovic and Ivanovic count as Top 20 Wildcards.

Yes, there's a bunch of promo stuff scheduled with her as well (some training with Vika event and stuff like that) so the organizers must be very sure she shows up.
And yeah, that rule is stupid, I don't really see why it's even needed. It's not like the Top 10 players would play every little International if they were allowed.

Oh.
But Kvitova could get a Top20 WC if Azarenka withdraws?

Re: Linz might once again get screwed...
Azarenka is wise in playing a proper indoor event prior to the YEC. Not sure if she'll be fully committed all the way, but she'll surely show up if not only to get a couple of indoor matches under her belt.

Re: Linz might once again get screwed...
Well, it's not like crowds were soo after watching Azarenka anyway. Ivanovic is there, so her alone will draw many teenage boys to buy tickets.

it's all about the player's party. They need to bring back the dresses from 2 years ago.
