I will miss them too; though I only saw/heard them on livestream!
Sad for tennis. I could always count on eurosport livestream for the most part!

So does anyone have information? Will there be WTA events broadcast in Britain in 2013 and beyond?

would not surprise if BT Vision got in the UK. They have said they have huge amounts of money to spend on rights

MotoGP has been quite dull for a number of seasons now. And Eurosport International lost those rights years ago, it's only still on British Eurosport.

There hasn't been any coverage of Eastbourne on the BBC in recent years. So for the moment the BBC only has Wimbledon left and perhaps the finals of the AO like this year.

interesting parts translated into English:
MCS Tennis: first European TV channel 100% tennis.
The channel has a contract with the WTA Tour to broadcast 22 live tennis events per season for 4 seasons + 15 ATP 250 tournaments.
In addition to being available in France, MCS Tennis will be available in 50 countries, including Portugal, Israel, Belgium and French-speaking parts of Africa. This wish of international development will be translated into the launching of 4 international versions, including one in English.
As far as France is concerned, news are confirmed:
France Télévisions will broadcast the French Open, the Monte-Carlo Open ATP 1000, Fed Cup/Davis Cup matches of French teams.
Canal+ and Sport+ will broadcast 8 ATP 250 tournaments, 8 WTA International tournaments, 75% of ATP 500 tournaments, and all ATP 1000 tournaments. Canal+ also has the rights for Wimbledon.
Eurosport has the rights for the Australian, the French and the US Opens.
|
I still have no idea at all what this MCS channel is, never heard of it. Maybe it's a new one due to launch next year?

Seems like its big in Africa, if only I lived in Chad or the Central African Republic
I'm sure the millions of WTA fans in Africa can't wait the arrival of the WTA to MCS.

Oh so they're alienating their core of viewers in Europe so they can get a good deal with a channel in a place where tennis isn't half as big as in Europe?
WTA.

Re: News confirmed: No tennis on Eurosport in 2013 outside the slams
Europeans, North Americans and Antipodeans are far too greedy, think about the Asians, Africans and oil rich nations whose citizens are clearly the biggest fans in the world. There are so many of them on here posting day in day out, the fact Luanda and Kinshasa haven't ATP/WTA events is beyond me, its clearly where tennis is at these days.
I mean the WTA is clearly more up to date than the ITF, the ITF still host the slams in NYC, London, Paris and Melbourne. Clearly Beijing, Kinshasa, Florianopolis and Baku would be better locations. These are the "emerging markets" after all.
