Re: Tokyo 2012: FlopPova bundled out by her biggest Pigeon.
Neither disappointed nor angry.. it would've been a surprise to see her win this in either two or three sets, given her terrible form at this tournament.. Sam, you'd better win Tokyo now! Hoepfully Maria takes some time off to rest both physically (shoulder!!!!) and mentally! At least all points from last year have been defended and it's still a P5 QF! The only thing that bothers me is: 8-7 against top ten this year! She should've three more wins at least (Kerber in Rome, Errani at RG and Bartoli at USO)!
@Mexicola hello! welcome!

Re: Tokyo 2012: FlopPova bundled out by her biggest Pigeon.
It was totally expected. And thanks God the agony ended! Though I dislike the fact that it came at the hands of Stosur (well at least she lost to a top 10er; better than losing to Watson or Safarova again).
She has been awful since the beginning (just like in Wimbledon) - was a bit of lucky to get past Watson. And she even had a simmilar pattern of behaviour like in Wimbledon - she looked fed up to me, like she didn't want to play, like she was forcing herself to play (a bit behaving like Vika and Djokovic when they start with their angry tantrums, which I don't like TBH) - she seemed to play angry, seemed moody... Something is bugging her. And IMO she shouldn't play Beijing. If she is tried (which I do not doubt she is, this is her best season since forever and has played so many matches and won so many matches and also has had a lot of matches that were difficult mentally and physically), she should just rest, rehab and go with a fresher mind to Istanbul (and I hope she'll react well to the city, since it surely brings some memories back).
What i do not understand (and I mentioned that on twitter, too) - is why all these exhibitions?? She has one in Czech Republic, then in Italy, then Brazil and today emerged a news that she and Carolina would play on 28th of December in Korea (??) - I hope the latter is false. She doesn't need extra money, nor does need to expose herself to changing so many timezones and all sorts of other factors, tire herself down with interviews and all kind of promo activities, when she could relax, take a vacation, rest and do the much needed shoulder rehab and train well in order to be mentally fresh and physically ready for a demanding 2013 in which she has a lot of points to defend, right from the start of the year.
Sorry for the rant.

I completely agree with you!!!!BTW did she already play all those exhibitions you mentioned or is she about to???
Actually I never thought about the fact that she will be playing the YEC in Istanbul(sahsa stuff and everything....uh awkward)...I really hope that doesn't affect her negatively too.
Does anyone think she played so badly in Tokyo because of personal stuff..(boy problems or something )

She's scheduled to play all those exhibitions in the offseason.
I don't think her Tokyo performance had to do with any personal problems.
She was probably tired, it's been a long season and it's not like this has been the first tournament in which she's been in a bad form, not even in 2012.

So many useless exhibitions! She needs rest, holiday and shoulder rehab!

I don't get why she would do that really!!!I think it's just stupid. She should take that time to rest and some rehab for the shoulder so that she'd be ready for next season...if she likes exhibitions so much than do jus one not FOUR!!!!

Ugh I missed the match
Sam beating Maria doe
Someone give me the tea on the match. Did Maria just seem tired or was Sam actually outplaying her?

Wait she's really 8-7 against top ten this year?

Her most disappointing tournament of the year, next to Wimbledon. She didn't play well at all in any of the 3 matches.
|
it's not disappointing because this loss is just like her loss to Kerber at Paris.... She wasn't in form to compete. Serena lost to Kerber at Cincinatti for the same reason (lack of motivation, tired after great grass season)
Disappoining loss - loss to Lisicki at Wimbledon

I think so! I counted them while driving today! Her last top ten win is Kvitova at RG! Even though Bartoli at the USO should really count as a top 10!

True! And I also mentioned in my other post her win against Errani at RG. She would've been top 10 the following day!
