Re: Ranking Watch
With her SF appearance in Cincy, Vee is already around no.45, hope she gets more points and a seed for the open if she wins

Re: Ranking Watch
24 seed if she wins, which would be perfect because she'd avoid a 1-8 seed until R4.
36 if she loses the final, which means she'll need a few withdrawals for a USO seed.
Top 50 if she loses her semi tomorrow

Re: Ranking Watch
I haven't been this anxious about a match in quite a while! A win could make things soooo much easier for the rest of the year!!

Re: Ranking Watch
She's up to 41 now. Does anyone know what her schedule is like for the rest of the year? I know she usually doesn't play a lot at this time but she really seems determined to get into a rhythm and figure out how to play week-in-week-out and manage her illness. I'd like to see her aiming to be seeded at the AO.
I see she's down to play Beijing and Luxembourg. I wish she was playing a third tournament.

I hope she can pick up some points in the fall. Would love to see her grab a seed at the Aussie Open

Re: Ranking Watch
^Luxembourg would be 280 points if she were to win. Sofia is Round Robin again I think, not 8 women knockout event.

Re: Ranking Watch
I wouldn't mind seeing Venus play in Sofia and hopefully winning that event. It could be a bit of a confidence boost for her and some good match play to end the year.

Re: Ranking Watch
She's #39 and only 60 points from #32 in this week's rankings. The inevitable Luxembourg withdrawal is gonna kill me.

Re: Ranking Watch
I still have slight hope for Luxembourg. Of course, I am just being delusional, but so be it. If she withdraws, I am mean tweeting her about her depriving her fans of seeing her play since US Open. At least Serena is playing Istanbul. Play Luxembourg, bitch.
Later thought: Luxembourg scares me a bit with their trophy choices though, regardless of if Venus plays. Last year was actually nice, but all the years before were

I know there's no point in trying to understand quite what goes through Vee's head with scheduling sometimes, but with a tournament like Luxembourg why pick it and not play???
Beijing is a prem mandatory so i presume she's automatically entered into that, so her even being on the entry list wasn't much indication of her actually wanting to show up. Her reason for not playing was the small back injury she was nursing since Cincy but wasn't enough to stop the USO or the WTT final.
Hopefully if she was actually not going to play because of the back then she'd have just announced an end to her season when she confirmed not playing Beijing. She really could do with playing this for confidence and ranking points.
