Why and/or? If you're going all that way, you might as well do both. They are very different and both worth visiting. But if you're in Europe you probably have more opportunities to visit them because you're closer.

I'll be in Stockholm and I definitely want to take the ferry across to St.Petersburg, but I don't know if I'll have enough time to fit Moscow in and make it worth it. Plus I kind of have Tallinn in the back of my mind for this trip as well. So who knows.

My mother is actually from Russia so I'm wanting to go next year also, if not Moscow, definitely St. Petersburg..
On a side note has anyone travelled the trans-siberian rail?

If you don't have time and if that's what you're doing, maybe just do Saint Petersburg. There's a lot of things to do there. Plus if you're interested and want to go out to Peterhof gardens, Catherine Palace etc.. that's a day trip in itself.

If you are in Stockholm, just do St. Petersburg and Tallinn. Both are worth visiting. And if you have an extra day, you can always add Helsinki. Leave Moscow for another trip.

A tricky one, but as a frequent traveller all I can do is offer some info and hope it comes to use.
Firstly, getting to Paris from the uk, my most frequent method of travel is by ferry(probably Dover-Calais would be closest to Paris) or Eurotunnel (Folkestone-Calais), or even Eurostar, really easy and simple (and quite fun actually) and to book, I suggest price comparison websites like www.ferrysavers.co.uk , it's worth browsing around for the best price. Secondly, what else you could do is take Eurostar from London to Brussels, a high-speed train to Cologne, then the daily Russian sleeping-car from Cologne to Moscow, taking two nights. There os a lot of info on the Seat61 site, I find that a great reliable travel website!
