If her body isn't strong enough to play more than 5 tournaments a year...

Anybody knows if she will play Dallas? If not I'm pessimistic about US Open but ...

HI all, unfortunately I had to pull out of Cincinnati with an abdominal injury. Its a real pity because I like playing here a lot...
can´t help it but somehow sounds like "oh, btw had to withdraw bla bla"
well, only thing which I don´t understand is that she felt fit enough to play two double matches in a row after her defeat to CSN but then decides to withdraw from Cinci.
well, whatever , it is an "old" injury anyway, so not that serious but she is probably afraid that it could get worse, so I hope that she will play Dallas but once again we can´t exepect much from her, as usual....

The "next Steffi" comparisons were unfortunate. I think Sabine has the potential to be one of the top players, if not the top, but no one will ever win even close to 23 grand slams in today's game. The style of play and depth of competition are far more grueling than anything Steffi had to face. The commentators seem to all blame the players who do reach #1 for being "pretenders" when I think it is just that much harder to stay at the top or even close to the top. (I'd like to see some of these commentators try to break the top 1000 in today's game).
ate.

Sabine already puts way more pressure on herself than anyone else and all of the stress of Wimbledon and the Olympics have left her exhausted. (As her recent tweets about the Olympics and about someone setting her alarm at 4:30 a.m. seem to indicate). While we all love her emotional nature, I think it doesn't come without a cost. To paraphrase a recent Ivan Lendl quote, "being emotional makes it harder to win." We saw that after she beat Sharapova and, after a celebration that rivaled any tournament victory, looked out of it for most of the match the very next day. There's nothing better in tennis than watching Sabine win a match and her victories mean so much more to me because I see how much they mean to her. But it is harder to stay steady throughout an entire tournament or season when each victory is so monumental. I wouldn't ask her to become less emotional (even if she were capable), because it goes hand in hand with the rest of her personality, and I believe because of this personality she is more driven than the other players and has more potential. We just have to be patient as the more big victories she accumulates, the less emotional they will be and the more prepared Sabine will be for the next match. Hopefully, she can save her emotions for her even bigger victories to come.

I agree with you regarding her attraction from nice personality but it's no physical impossibility to work on getting more relaxed at practise sessions and in matches, without losing kindness and emotionality, to provide injuries sometimes coming from overworking. Her body looks fine to me but reduce few weight to move some easier might be a change for the better (healthier).

Don't get me wrong:I'm no proponent of weight reduction for reasons of appearance but the kind and frequency of her injuries indicate an unbalanced work. Serenas also suffered a lot from protracted injuries

Re: Montreal 2012

I agree that losing a little bulk will make it easier to move on the court and make her better able to make it through such a grueling schedule. You don't see a lot of Mr. and Ms. Olympias on the tennis courts because the more bulk you have, the more work you have to do to move on the court and the more tired you will get throughout a match. While she might lose a little power, I think she has power to spare and it might be good to sacrifice some power for movement, consistency, and endurance.
