Coach and particularly player should be back at training by about monday or so. That would give Caro about two weeks of training before heading off to the Olympics.
There isn't gonna be another period where Caro can do a good amount of training til after the US Open as she's playing every week til the US Open. So she needs to make the most of this time.

I agree with taking a vacation now. From Olympics on she'll have plenty of tournaments, and even if she's still losing early, there's still all the traveling. So get the vacation now

News in a danish newspaper now the Dane Frederik Nielsen reaching the Wimbledon doubles Finals, he and Caro may get a Mixed wildcard for the Olympic games, but he may need to win tomorrow...

My understanding is, in order to play in Mix, Nielsen would need a WC for singles. The 8 WC have already been awarded and Nielsen didn't get one, why the Mix w Caro is off.
However, Nielsen is #1 WC alt, if one of the already awarded WC decides not to enter. Then the Mix would be on again!

If they do get a wildcard for the Olympics, it probably would have been helpful if they had taken the Wimbledon wildcard. That could have helped them get a bit of timing/rhythm as a team.
Yah, I know Caro wanted to get the heck out of there asap after singles.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5
My preference would be to see Caroline play "regular" doubles but I would also be happy if she played mixed (in general, I'm not referring specifically to the Olympics).

She stated a thigh strain as the reason for the withdrawal. Not sur e how playing with that would have helped?
My understanding re the wild card is that Frederik is alternate number 1 for one of the 10 alocated wild cards. So awithdrawal by any male would guarentee his participation.

She can't say "I want to get out of here", can't she?
I highly doubt we would have ever heard of that thigh strain should she have won her R1 match

I tend to agree. Of course it is possible that she did have a legitimate injury but I think she just wanted to get out of there after her early loss.

You tend to use that word excessively...
It's just common sense. She was visibly shaken by that loss, Johansson basically told her to take a break from tennis, the golfer played a tournament she wanted to go to and all of a sudden that injury comes up.
I'm not blaming her for anything, she would probably have been way too pissed to do anything meaningful in doubles anyways. But we should see things as they are, that injury was at least 90% a cop-out and it was the right thing to do.

The tag and the main clause can't both be affirmative or negative in a tag question,Jimmie;they must be opposites...and you almost never use the modal 'can' in the past tense(the meaning changes when you do),so it would be correct to ask:
She couldn't have said 'I want to get out of here',could she??
Though that's a casual form as well to use the exact words unless you're quoting something significant, such as the famous quote of a noted, historical figure...or writing dialogue,as an author might do.Most would say,"She couldn't have just said that she wanted to leave, could she?"
That's NOT an accusation of trolling--simply an observation--though,tbh,your English is quite high level,as I've seen with many Germans here at TF
