She destroyed Kerber 61 63 two weeks before in Australia. Paria was an obvious tank because she had stuff to do back in the US.
I was quite surprised at the poll results before her match with Kerber. Lots of people predicting Angie would win. This is not really the kind of player who troubles Maria because she's a proper counterpuncher who DOES give her pace, unlike those polish vultures. Kerber is a bit like Empress really. They don't have the same shots, but their game plan is very similar, and Maria leads Empress what? 6-1?

I dont think Maria played great today. Her form in 3rd round match is better. Today Her FH is not working well, she missed so many FH and 2 or 3 stupid volley  . I hope She can play better tomorrow

yeah, i think we are all taking for granted how well she is doing. Five finals before the second grand slam of the year is pretty damn impressive. Obviously if she could take this out it would be amazing especially as Li is the one who stopped her last year in RG

Do we think it's safe to assume the Finals mental block is no more after Stuttgart?  Or will this be different because it's a bigger tournament?
I don't think it necessarily matters that she hasn't played amazingly this week... she already has confidence in her actual game from Stuttgart, so I think this week is just about building mental confidence by winning matches and keeping "match-fit". Then after this she has a full week to practice at RG in which time she can hopefully get her movement up to Stuttgart standards, and then we'll be set
