#26 Tulsa beats #64 Memphis State 4-3

Memphis has 5 players ranked in either singles or doubles and will not even come close to making the NCAA tournament despite having top-25 level talent That coach has got to be kicking himself!

Yeah, good news for the other bubble teams for sure. It's got to be disappointing for Memphis, especially Collins.

You really have to wonder about their schedule. In addition to being incredibly weak, they only played 1 match at home all year. Maybe their facility is being renovated and they didn't have much money to travel or something? But then again, now they are hosting the conference tournament so who knows?

Maybe their coach was really just caught by surprise that he wound up with this much talent given that they haven't been at this level in years past. They should have more opportunities in the future if he can continue getting good recruits/transfers though it might be a bit more difficult now that he won't be able to promise a WC to WTA Memphis.

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

Some noteworthy mid-major Conference Tournament results -

CAA Final: #42 VCU def. #60 Georgia State 4-3 (so close...more bubble teams can rejoice!)

Sun Belt Final: #59 North Texas def. Florida International 4-2

Big Sky Final: #52 Sacramento State def. Montana 4-0

Also, #30 Yale won 6-1 over Dartmouth to clinch the Ivy league regular season title and NCAA automatic bid.

#51 Oklahoma State 4, #6 Texas 3

I guess Texas could not handle it's meteoric rise in the rankings...

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

Jenny nearly choked. She has a number of match points at 5-2* but managed to recover it just in time. This is a great way to end a brilliant college career.

Your right and you know what usually happens when you give up that large of lead and struggled to win on multiple match point opportunities! If this had gone to 3 sets, I don't think she would have won! Great win for Rabot!

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

Purdue was hands down the best team LB played this year. Rabot and Xeapolas in particular. Congrats to them.

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

Texas and TAMU will play tomorrow for the Big XII tournament title after both pulled off semifinal "upsets". Host A&M was perhaps more impressive sweeping Baylor's formidable top 3 to eke out the win.

[4] #13 Texas def. [1] #21 Texas Tech 4-1
[3] #19 Texas A&M def. [2] #12 Baylor 4-3

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

Another nailbiter in the Big Ten championships today between No. 15 Michigan and No. 30 Purdue! Purdue might be the surprise team in the country after knocking off this week No. 17 Nebraska, No. 11 Northwestern and now this match that will probably go down to the wire!

Nope.......2 singles was the one that clinched this one for Purdue....despite MI getting the doubles point.
