Irina-Camelia Begu(55) defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova(27) in R2 after saving a MP being 1-6 3-5 down, to win it by retirement in the end. Her second match this year already she won after saving MP(s).

Irina is my fail of the week tbh. Upsetting Sveta and then losing in straights to her punchbag when she had Johansson awaiting in SF, not cute.

Definitely fail-worthy as well, with a good chance to win any other week, but nothing beats Simona's and Sorana's spectacles. A somehow healthy Svetlana would have won or taken that MP, so her victory in R2 was kind of lucky as well - and yes Laura was her punchbag and even in that match Pous didn't have any weapons or game to trouble Irina, but if you don't keep the ball in play match-ups are getting kind of useless. She looked absolutely drained out there, her fitness is worrying...

Vaideanu is born in Piatra Neamt, according to the ITF site. She's almost 22 now, so no chance to become an important player.
There's a junior, Victoria Muntean, representing France and another one representing United Kingdom I think, whose name I forgot. Amongst others, I suppose.
