^^ and with the first tie in february after the Australian Open, if its a home tie we are still likely of getting the top players here. (apart from Russia who never seem to be able to get their best team together....)

Not that it matters. None of the teams above are unbeatable.

IMO Italy and Serbia are both weaker than the German team they just beat, and so too is Russia without Sharapova, who almost never plays. The Czechs are pretty formidable though. IF our girls have to play them, a home tie in Aus might be good, because at least then they can make sure it's outdoors on either slow HC or clay.
