Woot!!!!!!
The WTA really have to redo the points system. How is it fair that Anett would have gotten more points for winning a 10K than for making FQR at a WTA. Her, Tsurenko and all the other FQR makers would easily win 10s, maybe even 25s
Anyway, after Tunis and Chiasso, her ranking will be high enough to make 25ks on their own!!!

Re: Anett Kontaveit
There have been some withdrawels from Chiasso. It is unlikely this years field will be as strong as last years. Anyway, it is still going to be very difficult for Anett.
No one from Tunis will withdraw from now, so the field is basically set except for people who may withdraw the day before or something. Anyway, Anett should try and move onto higher money events. She has already proven shes capable of beating higher ranked opponents.
Something I just realised was that there are a few walking byes in Chiasso: Bremond (hasnt won a match except in a 10K), pivovarova, buzarnescu doesnt seem to be on top of her game etc. So if Anett for example can get a draw like:
Savchuk
Qualifier
Bremond
Putintseva
Schoofs
Robson
She has a shot at causing a rattle given these players are not necessarily claycourt specialists (robson, gronert)

Re: Anett Kontaveit
Yeah, both Tunis and especially Chiasso seem to be much stronger than Bath was. Btw, tomorrow evening the list for G1 in Italy on the week of 14th May should be out as well, so we will see if Anett is going to play there. I'd assume she plays this and Trofeo Bonfiglio, then rest for a week and then RG.

Thats a good sounding schedule. She has done well this year in chossing which weeks to play because she has played frequently with many breaks, not letting her get rusty or tired

Re: Anett Kontaveit
Translation from NashaMasha (Russia):
Chubby-headed lover of moaning and shrieking on court(her coach considers that it helps her focus on shots)has long been in mind for the young talents' hunters. It is tempting to draw parallels with Kiai Kanepi (girls are similar in constitution)but young Annette has less pace and power in her attack , and sometimes she has too lazy footwork. But she has a rare quality for juniors - the ability to win, especially when she is not playing really well, that's why she has so few random losses in the junior tour. And at the last Orange Bowl, she passed straight through Indy De Vroome, Eugenie Bouchard and Putintseva.Another advantage over her peers is that Anette is hardened in combat - she has repeatedly had to meet with the elite WTA palyers in the Federation Cup. Of course she used to lose easily to Martinez Sanchez, Suarez Navarro, Pironkova or Azarenka. However this year in this team tournament she managed to defeat Wimbledon quterfinalist Tamira Paszek and №156 in the world Bibiane Schoofs

Re: Anett Kontaveit
Good description. I think Anett's biggest strength is the ability to redirect balls from the baseline, like Azarenka.

agreed
But I think the comments about Juniors is a bit floored. I know this year she has only lost to townsend but I believe that she in genreal plays better in pros then juniors. Mayeb its because she is more of the under dog or something, but I think if she played khromacheva or townsend in a 10k OR 25k SHE WOULD DO MUCH BETTER
BTW, does anyone else think that Anett could make Aussie Open qualies??? I hope she does, then I can watch her play!!!! She could also play some of the 25Ks after the tournament, if she is still playing 25s on a regular basis at that stage.
I am hoping that next year Estonia can get some better tournaments. Maybe move the 2 10Ks to the clay of Kuressaare and Tere with the men and put 1 25K at the beginning of teh year at TAM or Tere, meaning the tennis centres get 1 each, and bring some money to saaremaa.
For those who prefer the article in Estonian, here it is from eesti paevaleht:
http://www.epl.ee/news/sport/taismah....d?id=64268303
I think Chiasso will be weaker than last year with 1 or 2 people withdrawing each day. Now LDA is 204
As I said before though, teh girls who are entered arent necessarily the best players despite their intimidating rankings

Withdrawal deadline was yesterday, so not many withdrawals from now.
