I really doubt if there's any scientific reason behind choosing pink, but certain colors have higher visibility. Say, US/AUS Open courts (Blue) are cool for TV viewers because the surface has very good contrast against the ball color.
I hope it's a false news because I can't imagine pink replacing RG clay color
