yeah I expected that...given the time frame, location and practice pics i was expecting vee to return there, but it might have been better if V started out at a MM but anyhoo, I can't wait to see V back on court.

Btw V looks great in that black dress, but her eyes look a lil tired.

There are two things about a WC, being asked if you want it and the big part is ACCEPTING it, which Venus did, so needless to say I am excited because clearly it means she is ready. She didn't take a WC for Doha.

Also, tournament director stands by that Venus has not officially withdrawn.

Question: How can Venus qualify for the Olympics this year? Won't she have to go on some phenominal tear or Tourny wins and deep runs to be ranked high enough?

I think what you gotta look at are the points, as of right now(could shift a bit between now and her return based on others gaining and losing points) Venus while ranked at 136 is only 500pts. or so outside of the top 56(which she needs to be in by the conclusion of RG and she has no points to defend until after RG). Technically speaking decent showings in Miami and Charleston can put her right there. Heck, a win in Miami would put her back in the top 40.

If Venus can stay injury free and keep from having any major flare ups with her Sjogren's she can definitely make it.

The tournaments likely Miami, Charleston, Madrid, Rome, & RG. Now, depending on her draws, level of rust to be shook off, and the illness of course she could round into good/great enough form by Rome & Madrid
heading into RG.

Yet, let's not get ahead of ourselves and take it one match at a time and see how it all plays itself out. I know regardless we will all just be so happy to see her back on court and celebrating that victory!

Was watching the Dubai final this morning on TTC, and Cari Champion said that Venus announced Miami would be her first tournamnet back

I don't know if she is basing this off the fact that she accepted the WC into Miami, but it has been a starting point of Vee before so if feel that if anything since it's practically in her back yard she will attempt to play a match, and go from there.

ArturoAce saw Vee practicing at UCLA and said her serve and backhand were good. Her returns were not so good and her forehand was a mess. She was very annoyed with her forehand misses as well. And she was sweet and took a pic with him
