Her serve was better today, but her ground game was better for the first set and a half against Benesova...

She stand a chance, Sveta is so up and down these day and her serve is very slow which help Lucie a lot.

In Auckland Sveta had a few matches where she served big on the first serve. It made an enormous difference to her, she was so tough to break.
Against Zheng she won the first set quite handily (6-2 I think) but started to lose at about the same time that her first serve started to slow down. I think it was a sign she was getting tired.

So Sveta retired with Heat Illness at 6-1 2-0 to Lucie...shame for her. Lucie plays Li Na in the QF...winnable given the form of Na in her match today in the first 2 sets, but still tough given she's the defending champion.

Nice! I think this is the first win over Kuznetsova... And Im sure some of you remember that last encounter back in Cincy of 2009 when Lucie was down a set and 2-5 to Kuzzy then came back to win in a second set tiebreaker only to lose in the third set tiebreaker. : ( .... Nice win today.
