Maria Sharapova will not accept a wild card into next week's tournament in Hobart, TENNIS.com has learned. Three-time Grand Slam champion Sharapova withdrew from thisweek's tournament in Brisbane because of her continuing recovery from a left ankle injury, which she suffered at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo in late September.
Sharapova has been training in Melbourne and still plans on participating in the Australian Open, which she won in 2008 and begins Jan. 16 in Melbourne. She last played at the year-end WTA Championships in late October, when she withdrew after her second match. - Matt Cronin

I don't believe it either. It was clear from the beginning that she wasn't going to play Hobart since she already was in Melbourne.
I'm still not sure why she withdrew from Brisbane. I don't think the ankle is bothering her. To me, it seems like she didn't have enough time to practise and work on certain things during the off-season. Maybe she started her off-season training late cause of the ankle.

Dont know why but i dont feel nervous.
i hope she can hit the ball harder, in the corner, not alway in the middle. i know she can do it, just find her old game backs

Right
It's not that I really expected her to play Hobart but I still think it's a bad decision to go into a Grand Slam without having a played a match since October... Back in the days she used to play the Hong Kong exo which was pretty competitive prior to the AO at least.

Whatever the case with Masha's ankle - true or not true that it's still bothering her - I'm sure she (and her team) knows what she's doing - I remember all the upset posts when Masha didn't play any tournaments on grass before Wimbledon and the doubts some people had - but she surprised us all - even if she didn't go all the way - Who would have thought?
How ever it goes in the AO 2012 - I'm sure Masha won't participate if she doesn't think that she's a chance to play good tennis and go deep - and I'll be happy if she can go passed the R4 - We always can dream about her winning the whole event - but then the Gods really must favor her - implant some feeling of invincibility in her and give her loads of luck in the draw - I'm just looking forward and excited to see her play again - even if it was only for a couple of matches and even if I'll be devastated if she's kicked out early - I was close to tears in her USO match vs Flavia Pennetta - but at the end of the day - I still love her to pieces as you all will - right?
