It's Greece, Crete to be specific. But most of those countries are great, at least it's not raining there all summer like here in Warsaw

Doesn't part of Portugal touch the Mediterranean? If so, I pick Portugal. If not, I guess France (though I've only ever been to Paris and a restaurant about 2 hours outside it). I have a love-hate relationship with Italy (which I've visited more than Portugal). I've actually grown to really dislike Spain. And I've only ever been to Istanbul in Turkey. That's my experience with the Mediterranean...

I would say so. In terms of folkways/culture/language, proximity, ethnicity, climate, topography and historical affiliation, Portugal can be regarded as Mediterranean. Portugal has been occupied by Carthage, the Romans, the Visigoths the Arabs/Moors and by Spain. Each has contributed to it's culture and built environment, and this can definitely be characterized as 'Mediterranean.
