Jasmina won but, yes, it was tough:

$25,000 Namangan R1: Jasmina TINJIC (CRO) (4) defeated Sabina SHARIPOVA (UZB) 7-5 6-7(6) 6-2

This will bump Jasmina to a new CH ranking next week around 305-310.

In R2 she plays Anna SHKUDUN (#533). Good luck to Jasmina. She's just 2-3 matches away from breaking into the top 300 for the first time, so she could do it this week!

A rocky start, but a win is a win. Hope there is a chance that she somehow makes it to the qualies of Wimbledon in time this year (RG is probably mission impossible, but W not so much IMO).

More good news: In the QF, she should be playing the #7 seed, Jakupovic (#358) but she lost to Khabibulina (#598). This is an excellent chance for Jasmina to reach the QF of a $25K (in a bad sign, though, Khabibulina and her partner destroyed Tinjic and her partner 60 62 in doubles).

Another less than convincing result (I'm talkin' about the 2nd set, of course), but the important thing is that she's through. Great chance to reach the semis and get 24 wonderful points. Don't blow this Jasmina. Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS JASMINA!!! Beating Kozlova in straights was nice, but beating the top seed (currently #226) and a former world number 66 is something else! Sure, luck obviously played a role here (looking at two tie-breaks), but this is still a phenomenal result for Jasmina. Now Wimbledon qualies seem even more possible!
