Should be an interesting match against Bianca Botto tomorrow. Bianca won today in a two hour match with the third set going to a tie-break. Julia should be a bit fresher for their match.

Re: Julia Glushko

And with this win she's into the top 200, and with nothing to defend until May, can continue her fast rise up the rankings in the upcoming months.

I was actually a bit surprised going over her last year's schedule finding out she'd only had 3 tournaments over 25K last year, and they were 50-75K too, in the US HC season.
Anyway, a real step up would be to actually make a WTA main draw this year
Or this week

Re: Julia Glushko

What a pity, and even more so seeing Botto got the lowest direct entrant to the MD, #150 Birnerova, which is well within Julia's capabilities as we've seen lately.
Another thing looking at the draw: the Spaniard who was beaten by Julia in AO Q1 got a WC here. When will a talented Israeli player have the opportunity to get one to something more than a 10K?

When they'll have a tournament is Israel, obviously.

That was kind of a rhetorical question out of frustration... (and regarding the people in charge of making it happen)

Re: Julia Glushko

The stats of her game shows that she had 103 points, compared to 98 of her rival.
She'll need to learn to win the important ones.

Re: Julia Glushko

That's an unusual stat, but to be fair, she won a bunch of 3-setters lately, including some tighter than this one - twice in each of her 25K wins (in 3 of those 4 coming from a set behind, at least in one saving MPs, and one of them was a final), in her AO qualies win and in Fed Cup against the vastly more experienced Kremer.

Well, she's on the qualifiers alternate lists for both Acapulco and Monterrey, but her rank is not high enough to enter either. I don't know if she's on the alternate list for Indian Wells but she doesn't seem to be close enough to enter qualies there as well.

But she's on the main draw list for 2 25k events in the USA beginning on the 28th, and the 7th, so it seems likely she will participate in that

Re: Julia Glushko

Julia is reported to have requested a wild card for the premier tournament in Miami (begins on March 21st)
Also she's in the alternates list for the Bahamas 100k+H, set to begin on the 14th. The list is really strong this year so she's pretty far from entering the qualies at the moment, but there are still a few days left so we'll see.

This week she has already reached the QFs in a 25K in Hammond, USA and will play the 3rd seed next: Stephanie FORETZ GACON (FRA)

According to the sports news site "one", Julia had been hurt in the hand and the shoulder but she's getting better now.
