before making such statements read first what Justine said about that match at that time and when came back playing again. And also watch the video of the match and listen the comments of Navratilova. She likes Justine and does not like Maria, that's why her comments can be trusted.
That AO 2008 match plus the match Maria - Justine at YEC 2007 plus the match Justine - Serena 2008 were the decision making events - said Justine.

Maria Sharapova, RUS: Is 2011 the year when the course of the rest of Sharapova's career will be determined? Over the past six months, some have seen the Russian as being on an extended course toward reclaiming her old spot in the Top 5 and as a consistent slam contender by next summer, but her lack of consistent results, continued post-shoulder surgery service problems, and -- worst of all -- a seeming case of the "yips" when it comes to closing out matches and rising to the occasion in tight situations, the jury is very much still out and the verdict on whether she'll EVER be "Supernovic" again hardly pre-determined. Monica Seles was never the same poke-out-your-eye competitor after her stabbing, and one has to wonder if Sharapova will ever be able to be the hard-bitten opponent she once was now that she's got that nagging notion in the back of her mind that she can't really FULLY trust that her one-time biggest weapons -- her serve and her heart -- will be there when she needs them in a match's crunchtime. Could it be that the hard truth about the Russian's career arc has been hiding in plain sight all along? When I first gave Sharapova that "Supernova" nickname back in 2004, I played off only a portion of the dictionary definition of the word. "A rare celestial phenomenon in which a star explodes" seemed an apt description of her meteoric rise, but I chose to mostly ignore the "resulting in an extremely bright, short-lived object" part of the equation. Maybe it's time to take the blinders off?

I've decided to stop reading these kind of articles because they either make me too depressed or they lift my hopes up too high.

Predictions even from so called 'experts' are wothless, the fact of the matter is, is that we don't and can't know whether Maria will be a great player again, all we can do is wait.

Well I'm pretty optimistic that she'll stil win Slams because of her USOS tournaments. I just really think that Cincy was THE deathblow to her season. I think she was mentally drained after wasting those MPs against Kim.

I'm pretty optimistic that she'll win slams because of players like Sunshine picking up Premier Mandatory titles.
j/k. I think Maria still has the heart, the desire and of course the game to win a few slams, especially when she a) is an underdog (strangely, she's not doing well as a favorite) and b) gets a nice draw... No Serena, Venus, Kim, Caro or Henin until the semis, please.

Maria will not play in Hong Kong.
She is not anymore in the Russian team and is not a captain.
Vera Zvonareva is.
There should be serious reason for Maria to withdraw from Hong Kong.
And I do not like the fact that the engagement is simultaneous with the withdrawal.

Re: ** Masha News and Articles! ** Vol. 2
Sharapova has been a loyal participant at the Hong Kong tournament since she started to play here as a precociously talented teenager in 2003.
President of the Hong Kong Tennis Patrons’ Association Ian Wade explained, “Maria feels she needs to play in a WTA ranking tournament at the start of the year, and she’s going to break her routine of starting in Hong Kong. We’re naturally disappointed but we know how hard a decision this was for her. With a current ranking of 18, Maria is working hard to get back in the Top 5.”

And OHMYFUCKINGGOD @ at Maria getting engaged. What a ginormous shock. Happy for them, as long as it doesn't affect Maria's career (I know, really selfish).

Marriage makes me think Maria won't be as focused but the HK news makes me think she is really hungry for AO!
