Casey has had another operation on her foot and won't be back playing again for a while, would be shocked to see her back this year, although she'd probably try and play the wildcard playoffs!

But the news for Casey Dellacqua is far worse, with the former top-40 player ruled out for up to nine months. Having missed much of the past 18 months with a shoulder reconstruction and then stress fractures in her foot, Dellacqua is back on crutches after surgery last week to remove a bone in her right foot.

''My specialist Dr Kim Slater basically said the only way to fix the problem is to remove the bone,'' said Dellacqua, 25, on her website blog. ''Sadly it is going to be a long recovery. But I am really determined to get my body totally right before I come back this time. I will be fine, but I am not going to rush it.''

Oh god that's horrible. Our girls have no luck with injuries/illnesses! 2 years she has effectively lost by the time she gets back.

Such bad luck for Casey and Im hoping not bad management. She's lost so much time the last two years with the shoulder, resting it, then deciding to operate. The foot was the same, resting and then deciding on the operation. Not that I know too much about sports medicine, she may not have had any choice

Thats such bad luck for Casey. I am sure that Casey will play again and I cant wait to watch her. Get well soon Casey

From some info I heard on the Tennis Australia live stream, I think she should be coming back in Feb/March if all things go well.

She is hoping to start hitting in the first week of Jan at this stage, fingers crossed for a smooth and speedy recovery and transition back onto the circuit!!
