Tournament director Eugene Lapierre announced that fans who were unable to use their tickets for the semifinal sessions will be able to exchange the tickets for the same session at the 2012 women’s event in Montreal. As a bonus, the tournament is also offering the same fans an additional ticket for one of the first 10 sessions in 2012.
“We’re really sorry about the weather conditions that were obviously beyond our control,” said Lapierre. “We’d like to offer adequate compensation to all of our customers who were so patient throughout the last weekend. But above and beyond compensation, we’d also like to offer a small bonus to thank them for their patience.”
Tennis Canada also allowed the fans who attended the semifinals Monday morning to stick around for the final in the afternoon.
Lapierre said it was not possible to offer fans tickets for the men’s event next year because ticket sales have already begun, but fans who don’t want to wait until 2012 also have the option of exchanging tickets for the same session for the 2011 women’s event in Toronto. The deadline for turning in tickets is Oct. 1.
