Re: 2010 Wildcards
The American tournaments have given 9 out of 25 MDWC's to Americans. Thats ridiculous if you ask me. And now with Stanford it will be 9/28

Re: 2010 Wildcards
WTF!? Stanford freaking won NCAAs this year!! If there was ever a time to give a WC to Hillary Barte, this would be the year! The QWCs had BETTER all go to Americans. Particularly Barte, Lindsay Burdette, and new recruit Kristie Ahn.

This stat disgusts me.
We haven't had this promising of a group of young American girls in ages!! The depth of talent in the Classes of 2010 and 2012 is phenomenal! (2011 has a lot of good players too, but if you ask me, 2010 and 2012 really are strong). I don't know how you could deny them WCs!! I mean seriously, 2010 has McHale, Capra, Rogers, Ahn, and Gibbs, who all have pro potential. This doesn't even include Oudin who has already established herself as a pro. These girls should be given chances!!

Re: 2010 Wildcards
I posted this on the other thread but I think US Open MD Wildcard choice is going to be interesting.
------
The WC this year is going to be interesting.
Three WCs are confirmed, Nat 18 Champ, Australian and French.
Five WCs left to be distributed among :
The young players McHale, Stephens, Riske, Hampton, Vandeweghe.
The ones trying to make come back, Harkleroad, Glatch and Ditty.
And NCAA champ, Chelsey Gullickson.

Re: 2010 Wildcards
Send Ditty to Qualifying, Glatch would better from Qualifying and same for Ashley.
Give the WCs to the youngsters, they all have been doing great lately and deserve the chance.

Re: 2010 Wildcards
My picks
1. Australian
2. French
3. 18s Champ
4. Christina McHale
5. Sloane Stephens
6. Jamie Hampton
7. Alison Riske
8. Coco Vandeweghe OR Chelsey Gullickson (I'd be fine with either)
I'm a firm believer that 4-7 has proven they deserve MDWCs.
Harkleroad could use her SR here, but I think it would be smarter for her to take a QWC and save her SR for the Aussie Open.
Has Glatch indicated she will even play the Open or any warm up tournaments?
I think QWCs should go to mostly American youngsters as well as Laura Robson (if she doesn't get in directly) or Heather Watson because past two years Wimbledon has given an American player a MDWC. Youngsters I would say should be considered for QWC include Trice Capra, Lauren Davis, Krista Hardebeck, Shelby Rogers, Kristie Ahn, Nicole Gibbs, Ester Goldfeld, Julia Boserup and Madison Keys.
If USTA gives Gail Brodsky ANYTHING this year, I will be floored and annoyed. She didn't deserve the MDWC last year, and her form is ten times worse this year.

Re: 2010 Wildcards
My predictions:
MD WC:
1. French (Mladenovic or Sanchez)
2. Australian (Dellacqua, Dokic or Ferguson)
3. Girls 18 (Stephens)
4. McHale
5. Riske
6. Hampton
7. Vandeweghe
8. Chelsey Gullickson (NCAA Champion)
QWC:
1. Keys
2. Rogers
3. Muhammed
4. Ahn
5. Davis
6. Capra
7. Ditty
8. Mueller (WC Play-Off winner)
*Robson and Watson should get in on their own rankings
*If I incharge, I'd give Daniilidou, Gerasimou and Georgatou MDWC's and Papamichail a QWC
