Recommend a type of strings!
I play tennis about 3 times a week, I'd say I'm a little better than your average 19 year-old. I have big ground strokes, but I also like to volley and use my slice (typically, though, I have a two-handed backhand). I can get lazy, though, and miss big shots because my footing was wrong. I move, I just don't have the best footwork because I've never really been coached.
Anyway, right now I play with Gamma Synthetic Gut 16. I find it lasts about a month (playing 2-3 matches a week). I like it because it lasts a while, only costs $5, and best of all it breaks instead of losing tension. I hate the string that lasts for months and just gets loser and loser till you're forced to cut it anyway. I'd rather have my strings just break. I string myself, though, so perhaps if I had to take it somewhere I'd feel differently . I like these strings, but I'm trying to venture out and try some different kinds because I feel like I could find something better.
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm trying to stay under $10 a racket. I'd prefer some non-Gamma suggestions, as all I've ever used is Gamma and I'd like to try a different brand. Basically, I want to experiment with strings to suit my game, but I don't know where to start

First of all, I can't afford $35+ a racket

Re: Recommend a type of strings!
For more spin you need polyester strings which you probally need at your level
but those are not cheap

Well it's recommended 52-62.. I actually string it at 52x54. I've tried it up at 57, then 62, and I felt like I couldn't hit my ground strokes

Re: Recommend a type of strings!
I'd hybrid with a multi or syn. gut on one and poly on the other.
Poly on the mains obviously means more control and vice versa makes more power.
It's a really nice combo for me.

I'm actually surprised people find this too loose .
But, I hit very flat. I have a very strong backhand, and I take the ball early and re direct it very hard, very flat where I want it. As for my forehand, I hit with a little more topspin but I just try to get it in and deep until I can hit a backhand winner.. I'm sure my forehand would benefit from tighter strings, but on my backhand I find myself over hitting and incapable of putting any more spin on it. I'd rather have that tough backhand and an OK forehand

Re: Recommend a type of strings!
I can't play with any nice soft strings like Wilson Sensation etc as they break after a day or two
So I am stuck using more durable strings, but even they only last me up to 2 weeks if I am playing alot

That's similar to how I am. I have yet to find strings that last me more than a couple weeks, except the ones that never break and I cut them because all the tension is gone long before the breaking point
