Re: Your tennis results?!
Played today in a USTA Boys 18 Singles tournament
I won 6-1 6-1 and will play the number one seed tomorrow at 12:30 so no pressure
but yeah this guy was really inconsistent he hit about 10 double faults and after those 10 he would serve an ace then hit 10 more..lol. But I played pretty good I hit 2 aces out wide that he didnt even touch I normally don't hit aces so this suprised me a little and felt pretty good. My groundstrokes were more consistent then his after like the 3rd ball he would go for a winner and miss badly or he would hit a poor drop shot and give me a easy ball to rip.
But all in all a easy match I hate playing the first match of the tournament because I'm always nervous but a win's a win!

i won a set
we played on har-tru this time. i clay.
i was equal parts stosur and jankovic. i sliced my finger open opening a can of balls and slammed my shin with the follow through from a serve, and i framed like 20 shots that went in.

Re: Your tennis results?!
I played interclub competition today. I was out drinking til 3am the night before and my match was at 1pm. I was a bit hungover!
So I was making lots of mistakes at the start and lost the first 5-7 and kept playing stupidly going down 1-4 in the 2nd until i finally got my shit together and won 5-7 6-4 6-3. In the 2nd half of the match there were not many UEs so lots of good rallies and winners.
Then we had the doubles match which we won 6-4 6-3. I even served my way out of a game from 0-40. That was fun. :-) My shoulder's a bit sore, but a good day. Very tired now and going to have a good night's sleep.

Well done. How did you get on today?
I have a match vs a cocky rich guy tomorrow. I beat him a couple years ago when I won the mens tournament at my club but then he beat me the year after (I was injured though) so I really need to show him who's boss tomorrow. He's really good though; he's very aggressive, just like me, and he's been playing so much recently whereas I haven't because of my back so it should be interesting.

Re: Your tennis results?!
On my highschool team ive just been promoted to third singles so our 'coach' made me play just a set against the second singles player. I wasnt hitting any backhands during the warm up so I wasnt thrilled to play him that day.
My opponent plays IDENTICALLY to Wozniacki but with a better first serve. every ball is different from the other one. He moves great. Can only flatten out his backhand though.
So I serve first get broken at love. I ten start hammering returns in. So it was a break fest up to 3-4. He then held and i was in no mood for a fight back so he won 6-3.
He was moving really welll and I returned well until the last game. My biggest issue was that I got one first serve in the whole match. 1 for 26 (ish).
Luckily I hit no double faults which can be troublesome.

Re: Your tennis results?!
1 for 26, man, how can you do that? You really have to do sthing about this man, and by that time, should have been spinning your first serve in a bit more.

Ugh I lost vs the first seed in the tournament 3-6 2-6
Well I played pretty decent but I couldnt close out the many deuce games we had which really made the difference it was much closer then the score but I couldnt take any of my chances. He had good variety sometimes he would kick serve then hit a hard flat serve so I was sorta guessing on what he was going to do next b/c he wasnt predictable. I Was way to nervous anyone know how to get over nerves during a match?

Re: Your tennis results?!
Unlucky.
I'd say just focus on something like your strings between points, do a Hantuchova and take your time to compose yourself and grunting also helps if it isn't forced.

Split steps are a great things to concentrate on when you are nervous, cause usually the first thing that goes when you are nervous is your reaction time. Especially against a player like the one you played again, who was varying his shots, you need to react and move fast, so instead of thinking about what he will do, or what you'll do to return his serve, just think about your feet moving well and your body and mind will do the rest and react properly. And the more you do that, the less nervous you'll be.
Forgetting to split step when nervous is definitely something I do all the time and this usually works
