Quote:

Erstes Turnier seit Juni

Tamira says she trained very hard the last 2 months. The most important thing for her is to be without any pain and that she`s well prepared. Tamira is very happy that she can come back to WTA Tour and play tennis again. It is a new beginning for her after a difficult time. Tamira doesn`t have big expectations for the first few tournaments. She says she has to be patient.

Angel Gimenez is not her coach anymore! Tamira trained in Linz with Jürgen Waber. She says there are perfect training conditions.
Tamira will work with Waber in Hobart and Melbourne. (Waber is also Sybille Bammer`s coach and Austria`s Fed Cup captain.)
She will decide after AO about her tournament schedule and coach.

If he is, he sure is a silent coach, because the other guy that was in that photo I posted was actively signalling her and encouraging her from the stands, and she was looking right at him in between points. Not sure what the basis is for the statement that her Dad is coaching her, unless it just happened since Miami.

One thing about that article is right--she was super close to beating both Pavlyuchenkova and Cirstea, and even Dulko--she just needs more matches to get used to winning those close matches instead of coming out on the short end of the stick.

Re: Tamira Paszek Articles and Interviews Thread

Thanx for the article, joe87.

Finally a new one, the last one was from January.

Spielerin Nation Jahr Turnier Alter
Tracy Austin USA 1977 Portland 14J, 0M, 28T
Cathy Rinaldi USA 1981 Kyoto 14J, 6M, 24T
Jennifer Capriati USA 1990 Puerto Rico 14J, 6M, 29T
Andrea Jaeger USA 1980 Las Vegas 14J, 7M, 14T
Mirjana Lucic CRO 1997 Bol 15J, 1M, 25T
Nicole Vaidisova CZE 2004 Vancouver 15J, 3M, 23T
Tamira Paszek AUT 2006 Portoroz 15J, 9M, 24T

Star Power In Portoroz

PORTOROZ, Slovenia - ...

Former Portoroz champion Tamira Paszek, who took the title in 2006 in her only previous appearance here, also moved into the second round with a 75 62 win over Jelena Kostanic Tosic: "It was a very important match for me. I was out for seven months so my ranking has dropped from No.50 to No.300-something. It's wonderful to be back here, the first tournament I ever won. It's a nice feeling to come back to a place I've never lost. I'll just keep focusing. Tomorrow is another day of practice and I'll get ready for the next match."
Tamira`s Portoroz title 2006!

Re: Tamira Paszek Articles and Interviews Thread

Today I read an interview with Tamira.

Beside her hapinness about the US-Open MD it said that she has no coach at the moment, and probably wants to go to Brasilia with Larri Passos to prepare for the next season.

QUÉBEC CITY, Canada - ...

Earlier, Tamira Paszek continued to burn through the draw, cruising past fellow teen Christina McHale, 62 62. McHale, at 18 years the youngest to reach a Sony Ericsson WTA Tour semifinal this year, was overpowered by the 19-year-old Paszek, who reached her third career final and will go for her second title.

"She was a tough opponent. I didn't know what to expect," said Paszek, whose first title came at Portoroz four years ago. "Everything seems to be finally fitting together this week. I'm feeling healthy."

Paszek has now won seven matches in Québec City, three in qualifying and four in the main draw. She hasn't lost a single set during the week.

McHale was complimentary in defeat. "She played very solid," McHale said. "I was under pressure to go for more as she had an answer for everything it seemed. I had a good week though. I'm disappointed now, but I'm pleased to have made my first quarterfinal and semifinal here this week."

Mattek-Sands and Paszek will be playing each other for the first time.

Article about Tamira`s Quebec title:

http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/n...256076_2159203

Quote:
Tamira Crowned In Québec

September 19, 2010
QUÉBEC CITY, Canada - Austrian teenager Tamira Paszek made a forceful return to the winner's circle in Québec City Sunday afternoon, edging Bethanie Mattek-Sands for her second career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title.

Paszek, a former No.35 who had to make it through qualifying this week on account of her current No.151 ranking, didn't drop a set en route to the final and showed she could still play big time tennis on Court Bell, saving two set points in the first set and rallying from a 3-1 deficit in the third to win, 76(6) 26 75.

"It's overwhelming," said Paszek, who has ties with Canada - her father lived there for 15 years. "I'm extremely happy. Anytime you win a tournament for the first time it's very special. This is something I'll remember the rest of my life."

Paszek's 2009 was marred by injury, and at only 19 she is trying to work her way back up. She is projected to return to the Top 100 after this. "I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me during tough times last year.

"I always believed I could come back."

Paszek is now 2-1 in career finals, also winning in Portoroz as a 15-year-old in 2006. She was a runner-up to Patty Schnyder at Bali in 2008.

Mattek-Sands reached her first career final here in 2008, finishing runner-up to Nadia Petrova in three sets. This year the American lost in another tight one.

"This is my best tournament," Mattek-Sands said. "When I made the final here again I really wanted to get my picture up on the champion's wall. Tamira is a tough player. She was injured for a little bit but obviously playing qualifying here and making it all the way to the final, she has been playing really well."

"In the end it was so even, it was just who fought the most," Paszek added. "We played some great tennis. I just fought to the maximum at the end."

Tamira worked with Jez Green, the fitness coach of Andy Murray, for 3 1/2 weeks in Miami. She says that she feels really fit, 2010 was a "probation year". Her father said her confidence in her strokes is back.

She won´t have a permanent coach in 2011
