I didn't want to say anything before this mathch in case my jinx went from Sprem to Mamic (not that Sanda needs one lately), but this is a fine result indeed. She got one of the toughest possible draws here and won in straight sets. Well done
She destroyed Nika 6:1 6:1 Is Sanda back for real finally?! I certainly hope so. Next she plays Stanciute who's currently 221, but was never inside top200. They actually met once before and Sanda won, but it was 6 years ago on some challenger, so I'm not sure if that's of any importance now. Stanciute seems to be a claycourter (at least judging from her favorite surface stated on itf website), so this might be a real chance for Sanda. A semi here would really boost her confidence.
In QR1 of Barcelona she ret. at 16 to Loit. This first set was not that bad like it may seem because in every game she lost(6) she took at least 2 points. Hopefully she will be back soon and get her game together!
Her FO points will come off soon and she'll plummet to ~#400 I guess that's where she really should be considering her form this year. She was on the quali list for next week's Grado 25k, and was even in the draw as the top seed (with a bye in QR1), but she's no longer there and not in the withdrawal list either
