VICTORIA Azarenka lost her quarter-final to Serena Williams late Wednesday afternoon and by 2pm yesterday had already departed Melbourne town (thank you Twitter, for that information). The Belarusian has made big improvements in the last year, after giving up pastries, chocolate and one other addiction: sleeping. ''I like to sleep a lot,'' Azarenka explained. ''When I am practising and I get tired, I can just sleep for 14 hours straight. I don't know, I just like to sleep a lot.'' The habit was kicked when she started working with Sam Sumyk, and wasn't allowed to get away with sleeping through training sessions any more. ''I have different coach now and I do different things that I didn't do before,'' she said. ''My coach will not allow me to sleep in any more, he will wake me up.''

She must have gone choco-crazy after Wimbledon last season i'm guessing with her record in 3 set matches Maybe sleeping through the training sessions was what Mark Wellington was talking about a while back on his twitter At least she's more committed to putting in the extra effort now though and already she's looking much sharper

I didn't know what to make of that article either. It was only this time last year i remember reading an article that said she was one of the hardest working players on improving her game and now we're told she used to sleep through training sessions If she did it must have been after Wimbledon when she looked a bit bigger and slower than the first half of the season.
