Any physics geeks around here? Let's geek it out here!!
Hi everyone just wondering who's really into physics here. Could start by saying what is your favourite field in physics. Mine is quantum mechanics!

Wouldnt refer to myself as a geek (as I guess that implies I actually know something)...but I had a really good time when I studied Astrophysics...I love that!

Nice! I took a course in that too...Stellar evolution it was a fun class. What was your fav topic in that course? Mine would have to be neutron stars.

I imagine it would be string theory.

I'll stick to biology and chemistry. Electricity and resonance are the most interesting, if any, for physics.

I only like string theory because it is not actually physics.
Just kidding.

@Bahia: Cool that you like electricity. You might be interested to know that there is a quantum theory of electricity.
@moby: Well it's sort of true that string theory is not really "physics", as it does not really throw up hypotheses that we can readily test. But I believe in time we might be able to. But then of course string theory is still a bit too general at the moment as well.

My Masters research was in the field of nonlinear optics (photorefractives), while my PhD research is in the field of plasmonics.

I'm not interested in Physics per se although I found the theories of physics interesting when I did it in Uni years ago.
I'm interested more in Astronomy so a bit of interest in Physics is necessary.

I liked how we can see whether something is approaching or getting further away based on how it shifts in the electromagnetic spectrum...i.e. the red-shift!! Awesome
