Yes. I reported the post a few days ago but curiously, it has remained intact. Oh well

Well it's not even just reporting it as being a disgusting post it's the fact that no one seems to have even commented on it in the thread.

I see no point wasting my time on him. I'm personally more surprised that the mods haven't done anything about it

Britain always was one of the most in debt country in the world. Now is very close to the most in debt (external) country in the world! $150,673 for every citizen. Fance has to pay $68,183/citizen.
We speak english on this forum because of the USA, many of my friends don't realy make a difference between a Brit or an American for them the Brits are Americans because they have 'american' names and speak english.

Duh your finacial sector should be consider a terorist sector duh. Last year your banks tried to distroy the Romanian Economy (and the economy of Serbia, Ukraine, Poland and Hungary). Thank God for France who wants to regulate you finacial sector otherwise would destroy Eastern Europe.
Quote:
Romanian currency RON was under attack a few days ago by speculative funds engaged by banks based in London, according to reports by the Romanian media (and accusations stemming from the Central Bank). The RON/EUR was taken from 3.5/1 to almost 4/1 in just 2 days. The Central Bank managed to hit back at this attack and provoke huge losses to the banks involved in the attack to the extent that some of the banks could not close their speculative positions to cash back the little money they still had to cash back.
Following this attack (a few days later), and huge losses by these banks in London, S&P lower Romania's rating to "junk", while Romania is in far better position than Bulgaria or Hungary (both having significantly higher ratings than Romania) and Moody's disagrees with the decision made by S&P.
Yesterday, the Romanian Competition Council stormed the headquarters of several banks in Bucharest and sealed their servers in the wake of what it is going to be the most important antitrust investigation ever in Romania so far. EU Commission has also been informed about this. If the Romanian Competition Council can prove its case, sanctions agasint such banks can reach up to 0.5 billion EUR.
Romanian Prime Minister had a first reaction to the foreign (British) financial attack: I don't think is normal that foreign banks, saved (bailed-out) with public funds, engage in speculative operations to profit on the back of the Romanian tax payer. It is not moral what's happening. Of course Capitalism in essence is not moral ..."
"Romania should bring this to the attention of the European Union ..."
The Prime Minister spoke with the Prime Minister of Hungary and Poland in order to establish a common position against speculators, and ensure such attacks can be rejected:
|
I bought my car at that time and I had to pay 700EU for it because of your banks attacked on our currency. I'm payed in RON but cars here are brought in EU. So your country became so pathetic that is trying to stole money from poor Eastern Europeans, and when they are asked to give some asistence to EE are shiting on themself. Britain should be put on the list of countries that sponsor terrorism just like Iran and Nord Norea

Re: Which country is more powerful currently,France or Britain?
Even if we do steal money from Eastern European countries it's money we are effectively due from having to harbour their uselss cast-offs who have immigrated to Britain
As for the terrorism aspect, really you are labelling Britain as such based one article Wise-up.

Well you don't hear this things in your media which I consider nornal, but this is what your companies are doing here Well those uselss E Europeans (gypsies) will became British citizen in a few year, because they are not comming back so it's your problem now
Btw Iceland was considered a terrorist country by Britain for 4 bl. euros. Your banks tried to stole 3 bl. in 2 days from Romania I know that the Brits are not responseble but YOU have to regulate your fucking banks but it seems France will do that because your not willing to do it yourselfs (

Re: Which country is more powerful currently,France or Britain?
The key thing is this...its not about whether one likes or doesnt like a particular country, the thread is about whether the UK or France, against a variety of measures, is more powerful...which I simply suggest is the UK. UK/Germany might be a more difficult call. Many of the people voting for France seem to be voting out of anti-British sentiment than the facts of the matter.
Again to a degree I understand some of the anti-British stuff, but its so exaggerated and beyond any reality.

Re: Which country is more powerful currently,France or Britain?
okok it's seems that the Brits only want to hear good things about them even if there aren't
Well lets see
Economy: 2-1 for France
GDP nominal (in 2008 before the financial crisis)
France: 2.86 trillion dollars
UK : 2.68 trillion dollars
GDP/capita nominal
France: $46,037
UK : $43,734
GDP PPP (in 2008 before the financial crisis)
France: 2.11 trillion dollars
UK : 2.17 trillion dollars
External Debt:
France: 5 trillion dollars
UK : 9.1 trillion dollars
Army: 4-0 for France
Military expenditures:
France: 65.7 bl $ per year (3rd in the world)
Uk : 58.6 bl $ per year
Number of bases overseas
according to BBC France has the 2nd largest number of military bases in the world (after USA). sorry can't find the article now..
Number of troops within the command of that country:
France: 779,450
UK : 417,260
Number of Nukes
France: 400-600 (developed alone)
UK : 200-300 (developed with USA's help)
Miscellaneous: 2-1 for France
France: leading in techonolgy development
Uk: leading in finacial sector and in education (expecially in training suicide bombers ---> just jokin')
So only a stupid man/woman or a Brit would not see that France is the best.
I'm not anti-Britain but I'm pro-France, just love that country and I don't like how some sucker from Britain talk about her. I woudn't have eneter in this forum if it wasn't about France. Oh and those articles are very true It was a big scadal here in Romania (even the secret services were involed and RBS had to sold it's romanian branches after that, loosing around 300 mill euros I don't think we'll see a British bank operating in Romania very soon)

Re: Which country is more powerful currently,France or Britain?
How about culture? History? Influence? All factors mentioned in the original question...
In terms of history...pre 19th century maybe France, then we have Napoleons defeat at partly British hands, then the Industrial revolution took us and the world into a whole new place. We get an empire, bigger and stronger than France's, again not a boast, as the Empires legacy was bloody and often cruel. But still powerful. Then the 20th century...allies in World War one in senseless war, World War 2 Britain unconquered and defiant, France, well it was not their finest hour.
History for me Britain has a strong case then...
Culture...the English language, despite protests, is born in Britain. The US helped spread its influence but so did our empire in every corner of the world. The language we are conversing in now, the most widely spoken in the world, comes from the little island Im sitting in now...
Popular music...easy win for Britain...literature...thanks Shakespeare, Dickens, Britain...the media, thanks to the BBC, Britain...Football the most popular sport in the world...British in origin, current most successful, popular league in the world, British.
So we have a strong case in culture too.
Influence...France has the edge in Europe...the UK is a bigger player on the world stage with the comonwealth and yes, the US relationship. Its easy to sneer at the supposed poodle UK to the US, but that relationship liberated half of Europe in World War 2, so its not all so bad.
Again, I love France, and have French blood in my heritage. I prefer France personally to Britain, dislike many aspects of my country but that is a very different thing when talking about power or cultural influence.

Re: Which country is more powerful currently,France or Britain?
Britain is much more of a world player than france, france is much more heavily focused on Europe. For that reason i would give the edge to the UK
Even when it comes to Germany i would still give the edge to the UK internationally.....no disrespect but not many world leaders care what angela merkel has to say, its always what london and washington think, normally because the UK and US are already involved in some way.

OMFG! Are you two still at it? How far does this go back? Hastings? Agincourt? The Siege of Calais?
I mean really. Still, props. You Empires both lasted longer than ours did.

It's my contrary nature...as a Brit I'm often very critical of my country, but it rankles a bit when non-Brits stick the boot in to us. So then I end up sticking up for my country.
The US poodle thing for example...there is an element of truth to it, but sometimes it's a relationship that has been a positive force in the world.
Anti-British sentiment is lazy in the sane way as knee jerk Anti-American sentiment is lazy.
