Did Neyo write anything on this album? He such a good songwriter and would have wrote her a beautiful song.
Her voice just can't facilitate them anymore. The power-ballads were basically a showcase for "The Voice". Sadly The Voice is gone - but it's actually an opportunity for Whitney to go in a different direction. A less spectacular and understated ballad can say just as much as a really powerful one, and who is really doing them these days? I wouldn't expect I Look to You to be number one, but I hope it does well and that it offers some diversity to the charts.

Like it a lot. Much better than the other two tracks I've heard so far. Tend to see it more as a great album track then something to be released. I don't know what I feel about it as a single, seems too laidback old-school R&B to be current - and isn't that a euphemism for dated? It has a similar vibe to Teenage Love Affair, perhaps unsurprisingly, and will probably chart similarly.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Aren't we in the middle of an 80's revival
Perhaps being dated is a good thing...

No, I do think it will do well on the charts (pulling numbers out of the air, I would hazard the bottom rungs of the top 40?), just not spectacularly. It's all about expectations. At this point in her career (mounting a comeback of sorts), that's better than nothing I suppose.

Well that certainly is out of the air. If they market it well and it picks up popularity it will certainly be in the top 40, who knows how high really; anything can happen in a few weeks.
I don't think it feels dated at all personally. It's not a transcendent single, but I think it will hit a vibe with a lot of people. It has a certain je ne sais quoi, is it Alicia Keys is it Whitney Houston, who the hell is it? You're right though, it is all about expectation.

This song is great! I like ILTY and Strength, but this is the first time I got that tingle that made me smile throughout the whole song. I've been waiting to hear something from this album that takes me over the cliff of the unexpected. I love the bridge, the hook, the belts and those catchy Ohhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhs, makes you go left, right, up, down...if you feel good, put one hand in the air...!!!!! It will be a dance favorite for a lot of people. Totally creativity for Alicia, Swizz, and WHITNEY.

It's probably Whitney's single most infectous song of her career. I will admit after the first listen you're not completly sold, but after the third listen the song really starts to uplift you and you can't help but dance to it- and before you know it, it's stuck in your head.
They finally have the full version available on youtube. The one I posted in the first post was a 2 min. clip- so for those that didn't go to the link I provided for the full version (sometimes I'm too lazy to follow links to,) here you go:

I'm warming up to I Look To You. It may even be better than I Didn't Know My Own Strength. Same with Million Dollar Bill. Gosh, I'm getting all excited for the comeback now.

LOL! That was comical. As always, Whitney takes a cover to a different level.
