This year the World Outgames is in Denmark as far as I know. Could anyone participate in them or are they by invitation only? In general, this have to be one of the friendliest competitive environment you can find. I belong to a local GLTA league and we also have some 'straight' players and so what? They are all nice and friendly and obviously NOT homophobic. And the eccentricity they have to deal is But that's another story.

Yes the World Outgames are also open to all - you don't have to be invited. Just like the Gay Gaymes. I agree, the GLTA events (and Tennis Sydney events) are so friendly and that is why I love playing gay & lesbian tennis. You don't seem to see or experience the same level of aggressive behaviour that you see on the regular tour and events. People seem to be more accepting, tolerant and sporting. Of course that is a generalisation, but in my experience of playing competition for 30 years it is on the mark. Likewise, the straight players that compete with us on our tour are some of the most friendly and sporting I have ever met.
Sydney could join up again one day, but only if they change the rules on averaging one tournament result and multiplying it by 6 to grade you. One Final in Sydney means you have made 6 finals and therefore automatically have to be graded higher. That turns us off joining the tour.

CarniceroLarry
"Gay Lesbian"? As opposed to straight lesbian?
tenn ace
would have been funny if it wasn't moronic
CarniceroLarry
Maybe they should change name. I thought the term "gay" could be for men or women, "Gay: A person whose sexual orientation is to persons of the same sex". So there is no need to call it both words "gay" and "lesbian". Just call it GTA, not GLTA.

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?
everyone is invited. and yes, there is a need for such tour as some gay guys ARE feminine they may not be welcome or feel welcome in 'staight' leagues. also this is not just for competing but socializing as well.

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?
So what about all the straight people who wont feel comfortable playing on this tour? Would you like it if ATP or WTA changed to ''Straight Womens Tennis Association'' or SATP? But then said...oh gay people can play too if they want.....
Its insane....

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?
I play on the tour and agree it's great fun. We even have our own world rankings!
My next event is in Dusseldorf next month and will also be playing Manchester and Palm Springs this year. Jguerrica, I think I saw you play in Tampa last year, you play great.
That must be great tennisvideos to play and win with a grand slam champion!!! That's interesting to hear about the Sydney tennis club, I might pop in next time I'm visiting my sis!

god, are you stupid, do you want me to spell it out? if a straight person is comfortable around gay people some of whom are eccentric and they want to play on this tour - THEY ARE WELCOME. if they are not comfortable and do not want to play, then don't play.
and comparing to ATP and WTA is incredibly STUPID as playing on a professional tour is a job that puts bread on a table. glta is a social league.

I was debating between Dusseldorf and Amsterdam and decided to go to AMsterdam. Maybe I will play in Dusseldorf next year. What event are you playing? PS. Good luck!

Wow your such a great advertisment! Is everyone who plays in this league so rude and socially inept? Have fun with your socially divisive league, though God forbid one day people will just play sports for the fun, regardless of their sexuality

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?
I think a way to look at this is like a Gay or Lesbian club(as in a dance club.) It's catered towards the Gay, Lesbian crowd but straight people aren't discouraged to enter and can. It's open to all, just catered to a specific group.

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?
I've been to Amsterdam two years ago it's one of the best tournaments, think it's moved it's venue this year and isn't on clay anymore. I just wanted something a bit smaller and a bit more low key plus I really wanted to visit Germany. There is a little group of us guys from Manchester going. I'm playing B doubles and C singles. What about you? Thanks and good luck in Amsterdam too

We will have fun - no worries. And again, since obviously you can't comprehend, nobody will ask you about your sexuality if you ever decide to give it a try. PS. By the way, league doesn;t have ot advertise - it is popular anyway.

Amsterdam is not clay anymore? Damn, I was so looking forward to it. Also, for the reason that I have never played on red clay before, I decided to play C singles and C doubles. Besides, who cares how far I will go - going there to enjoy, party and just have a good time.
Thanks for good luck. May come to Manchester if don't go to Provincetown.
