Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Looks like she was defending some points last week, cause she dropped 3 places in the rankings regardless of reaching R2. Still, she's hanging in top200

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana is in the qualifying draw for next week's $50K in the Bronx. She's the #5 seed. She has a tough opponent in the first round: Junri Namigata, ranked #211, who, I believe, is the second highest ranked non-seeded player in the draw. Good luck, Ana!

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
As predicted, tough match for Ana against Namigata but she pulled through by winning a close third-set tiebreaker. Ana actually won one fewer game: 64 26 76(5).
Congratulations to Ana, and hope she gets enough rest for her next match, which will be against Elena Bovina or Julia Cohen. That could be a tough match as well but if she wins it then she's almost guaranteed to qualify since her final-round opponent would be a wild card (Fonseca, #681, or Seideman, who's unranked).

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
The bad thing is, this time last year she was playing Hechingen 25k and reached the finals there. So unless she gets to semis here, she could drop up to some 20 places in the rankings, i.e. outside of top200

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana dropped to 214 in rankings this week, but is playing US Open qualies, and with a good draw that is - 18 y.o. Han, ranked 271 and never higher than 254. It won't be too easy though, this girl played finals of 25k, quarters of 75k and R2 of WTA Palermo from qualies.
Good luck Ana

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana will be seeded in Helsinki 25k next week. She withdrew from one tournament this week (don't know why) where she was defending 4 points from another tournament played this time last year so those points will come off on Monday, but with 3 or 4 good tournaments by the end of this year she can get back to top200, cause she's got no more points to defend.

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana is 7th seed, and in the opening round she plays a local girl with a wild card...Emma Laine They're tied in h2h at 1:1, but since Laine is very far from her best I think Ana has a shot here.
Good luck!

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana made her first MD win in about 4 months, beating Dutch qualifier Meddens (wta 344) in R1 of Opole 25k. It's not much, but it's a start (finally). Plays another qualifier in R2, Kochanova (wta 506). Another good thing - she's not defending anything until early March of next year.

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Ana won her R2 match but it was too close for comfort. She beat Kochanova 75 76(7). In the QF she plays the #2 seed, Zahlavova (#182, career-high #139). I can't see Ana winning but I wish her the best. Still this is a good result for Ana since she'll pick up 7 much-needed points.

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Well, being 8th seed she did what was expected, anything more is a plus.
Zahlavova won their only previous match, played 3 years ago, but she needed three sets to win.
Good luck

Re: Ana Vrljic cheering thread
Vrljic def. Zahlavova 6:4 7:6
And also a great chance to make it to final - plays unseeded 19 y.o. Tsurenko who's currently at the career high ranking of 341!
