Noppawan wins maiden GB1 title

NEW DELHI India, 03 November, 2007
Thailand rising stars Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(ITF-33) became the first Thai junior to win a ITF GB1 title after defeating fifth-seeded Zi-Jun Yang(ITF-104) in the girl's singles final of the Asia/Oceania Closed ITF Junior Championship at the DLTA Tennis Complex in New Delhi earlier today.

Top seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, who plays with two-handed both sides, extended her winning streak going to 10-0 as she beat Zi-Jun Yang(ITF-104) in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 in the final contest. Noppawan, who won five matches in a row to capture her third ITF junior title in G2 Bangkok last weekend and has now won five rounds here, improved to 2-1 lifetime against the Hong Kong fifth-seeded.

It was Noppawan's first-career GB1 title after finishing the girls' singles runner-up at the Asia/Oceania Junior Closed in Taiwan earlier this year. The teenager from Chiangmai, who turns 16-year-old this month, has already won three singles ITF junior titles. The first title came at G3 Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 2006, won the second at G2 Jakarta, Indonesia in 2006 and captured the third trophy in G2 Bangkok 2007. In addition, the Chiangmai 15-year-old led Thailand team to win maiden title at the 2007 Junior Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Qualifying and finished the fourth place in the World Group Final this year.

Noppawan, who is now working with former National coach, Robert Davis, awarded another +180 computor ranking points for this week GB1 champion, together with the one hundred(+100) she has already earned as the winner of last week's Bangkok G2. She will break into Top-20 (around 16) in world junior ranking for the first time by next week.

Noppawan wins maiden G1 title in Sarawak

SARAWAK Malaysia March 23, 2008

Thailand No.1 junior Noppawan Lertcheewakarn captured her first-career ITF junior Grade 1 title after defeating No.16 seed Zsofia Susanyi of Hungary in girl's singles final of the 11th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup World ITF Junior Circuit, an ITF junior Grade 1, at Sarawak Lawn Tennis Centre in Malaysia earlier today.

The Thai star, who dropped only 11 games in four matches going into the final, rallied from a 3-5 down in the final set before overwhelming 16-year-old world No.111 from Hungary in three gruelling sets 6-0, 6-7(5), 7-5 in the final contest.

It was Noppawan's first-career G1 title after bagging GB1 in Asia/Oceania Junior Closed in India last year. With 150 ITF juniors points for singles champion and 50 points for doubles semifinalists, the Chiangmai 16-year-old would be jumping into the top-10 for the first time when the combined rankings are announced next week.

Following Sarawak, Noppawan will be heading to Manila for Grade 1 Mitsubishi-Lancer International Junior Championships where the projected top five seeds are: Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(ITF-18), Elena Chernyakova of Russia(ITF-22), Zi-Jun Yang of Hong Kong(ITF-35), Reka-Luca Jani of Hungari(ITF-40), and Misaki Doi of Japan(ITF-61).

Second straight G1 title for Noppawan at Mitsubishi-Lancer

MANILA Philippines March 30, 2008
Top seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn continued her good form to win the 19th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Junior Championships title, an ITF junior Grade 1 at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila earlier today.

Currently ranked No.8th in the world, the Thai star, who had never lost a set in two weeks until today, came from a set down to register a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over world No.59 and tenth-seeded Timea Babos, improved to 3-0 lifetime against the Hungarian teenager.

It was Noppawan's second career Grade 1 title after bagging last week's Grade 1 Chief Minister's Cup in Sarawak. The Thai 16-year-old has already won GB1 in Asia/Oceania Junior Closed in India last year. In addition, the Chiangmai native led Thailand team to win maiden title at the 2007 Junior Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Qualifying and finished the fourth place in the World Group Final last year.

With a good showing in two week tour, Noppawan awarded another +150 computor ranking points for this week G1 Manila champion, together with the one hundred and fifty(+150) she has already earned as the winner of last week's G1 Sarawak. She will become the first Thai women after Montinee Tangphong(career-high at No.20th in 19 May 2003), to reach a career-high of No.7th when the combined rankings are announced next week.

Re: "Nok" Noppawan Lertcheewakarn Cheering thread

BALIKPAPAN Indonesia May 04, 2008
Thailand rising stars Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(WTA-691) became the first Thai junior to win a 25,000-dollar ITF challenger title after defeating India's second-seeded Isha Lakhani(ITF-335) in the singles final of the US$25,000 BPD Kaltim International Open at Balikpapan Tennis Stadium in Indonesia earlier today.

The Thai 16-year-old from Chiangmai overwhelmed Indian second seed in staright sets 6-3, 6-2, to claim her maiden career title.

Currently ranked WTA world No.691, Noppawan, who will not celebrate her 17th birthday until November, extended her winning streak going to 21-0 after playing four tournaments in two month. In less than ten pro circuit events entered since 2007, the Chiangmai teenager has already won two doubles titles, finished runner-up two time in singles last year at the 10K Jakarta and Bangkok.

In junior, Noppawan became the first Thai women after Montinee Tangphong(career-high at No.20th in 19 May 2003), to reach a career-high at No.4 on the ITF World Junior rankings after capturing three consecutive ITF junior titles. The first and second title came at G1 Sarawak and G1 Manila in March 2008 and captured the third trophy in GB1 India in April 2008.

" This is the biggest win for me. My next goal is to win a US$50,000 event or bigger. But I won't hurry and will take one step at a time. " said The Thai junior world No.4 who is now working with her new temporary coach Khun Rung-rit Takong.
