Nobody talks about the Greek fed cup team. We have reached the round of 16 in 1977 and 1984. But now! We will be in Europe/Africa group 3 next season. wtf? Why doesn't Daniilidou play anymore? We would be in Europe/Africa group 1 then.

One good or even great player is not enough. It takes at least two quality players to have a good team

True, but if Eleni played, they wouldn't have gotten relegated, because in ea group 2, Daniilidou and Gerasimou are enough.

I heard that the 2008 EA Group3 tournament might be hosted in Greece. They should choose an island, like Zakynthos, where there are very nice clay courts.

Never mind. Malta is hosting it. It should be easy for us, even without Eleni, but she will probably play, if she is still in a slump. As of now, our best lineup is:
-Daniilidou
-Gerasimou
-Prousis?(lately, players have been transfering a lot to countries where they have ancestors, even though they were not born there)
-Georgatou or Fafaliou
*However, it will probably be:
-Gerasimou
-Fafaliou
-Georgatou
-And maybe Papamichail or someone like Koumantou or Kordolaimi without a ranking
*There is still time, as the tournament is in April, so many things can change between now and April.

Well, Eleni WILL play Fed Cup this year for the first time in 5 years

it would be nice to have anna,eirini an despina all playing for fed cup!they are doing quite good lately and they win more often so it would be nice to see all of them playing. i am guessing eleni and anna will play singles and then the rest will team to play doubles!

Yeah. I think that might be the team. But Stamatia is ranked higher than Despina
Also, Anna Koumantou was a great doubles player. She played some WTA doubles tournaments
According to her ITF profile, she is still active but she hasn't played since Istanbul WTA, May 2008
tenisci said in "Other Greek Players" that she is studying in London atm, but that was quite long ago. Maybe she will be a hitting partner for the team. She always played Fed Cup for us...

If Eleni, Anna G, Irini and Despina play FC, then I think it would be smart to add Stamatia, Eleni Kordolaimi, Afroditi Latinopoulou and Anna Koumantou as hitting partners

We have the strongest team by far
Other than us, only Armenia has more than one ranked player (and they only have 2).

Yeah. I wanted her to get it over Stamatia. Stamatia is pretty useless atm. And besides she doesn't play any doubles even though she plays so many tournaments per year. On the other hand, Despina is concentrating on juniors atm, and she almost always plays doubles and in the few pro tourneys she plays, she usually plays doubles. Anyways, I doubt either one of them would get to play. Maybe in a dead doubles rubber, but then Despina should play that instead. Stamatia does hit the ball a lot harder, so maybe she was picked to be a hitting partner

Do you think Jaz is going to show up? Did she go to the Olympics, even though she didn't make the German team ( )?
