Re: Sally Peers
Yeah, it was a good win for Sally
2nd Round:
(WC) Sally Peers (AUS) lt. Stefania Boffa (SUI) 3-6 3-6
A pretty good effort considering Boffa has beaten Olivia Lukaszewicz, Alison Bai and Alenka Hubacek this year.
Sally is back on court today in quallies for the Nuriootpa 25k. Unseeded, she faces Stefana Petrov in the first round. The winner will probably play 14th seed, Shona Lee, and in the final round of qualifying, Stefania Boffa looms again...
Good luck, but I'm not expecting any more from Sally than from Isabella this week...

Re: Sally Peers
Sally has beautiful technique and looks very elegant. She also uses her head and mixes the spin and pace of the ball up well. She has talent, but unless she develops a weapon in her game, will always struggle against bigger, stronger girls, as was the case with Brengle. Brengle out-ran, out-muscled and over powered Sally. When she loses, she seems to lose by big margins too, which is concerning. Another top 250-300 player in the making IMO.

Re: Sally Peers
$US25 000 Berri ITF Women's Circuit Event - Berri, Australia
Women's Singles Main Draw of 32
Representing Australia, Sally Peers, unseeded qualifier
1st Rd: def. (7) Emily HEWSON (AUS) 4-6 7-6(5) 6-4
I think that we have overlooked just how good a win Sally had today. Em is a tough customer, ranked around 330 and seeded 7th. This is by far Sally's best win, and a good indication of early promise.

Re: Sally Peers
Bump!
Sally ended up making the quarter finals of the Berri 25k and has since achieved a career high WTA Ranking of 683...becoming Australia's third highest ranked junior (WTA) behind Moore and Bai
Surprised more people don't post in this thread
She too is playing the G1 in Bangkok soon...

Re: Sally Peers
Unfortunately, Sally got beaten in the 3rd Rd of the girls singles, still in the girls doubles with Isabella

Gain, wouldn't it have been better for her to pick up some wta points playing the WA's, rather than losing early in some Asian junior tournament? I'm really not understanding their logic!

Re: Sally Peers
19th Mitsubishi Lancer International Junior Championships - Manila, Philippines
Grade 1, Girls Singles, Main Draw of 64
Representing Australia, Sally Peers, seeded 9
1st Rd: bye
2nd Rd: defeated S. Mulsap (THA) 6-1 6-2
3rd Rd: vs. (5) R.L Jani (HUN)
Good win over Mulsap, who isn't a bad player...hopefully she can make the quarter finals here.
