Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
Sugi is the 22nd seed in the singles draw
She could be drawn to any of the following players in Round 3: Chakvetadze, Safina, Petrova, Dementieva, Schnyder, Hantuchova, Peer or Golovin
I hope she can do well at this tournament
Last year she lost in 2R to Aravane Rezai after leading a set and 4-2.
She's playing doubles with Katarina Srebotnik; they're combined ranking is 29. However, Ai has Runner-Up points to defend, so let's hope she can defend those points
Go Ai!!

Ai's draw
Ai (21) vs. Birnerova
Oprandi vs. Tu
Kremer vs. Q
(9) Chakvetadze vs. Molik
Not bad. Hope she can make third round

Re: Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
Doubles Draw
(11) Peer/Safina vs. Pennetta/Vinci
Ivanovic/Kirilenko vs. Jankovic/Li
Foretz/Pin vs. Cornet/Fedossova
Hradecka/Voracova vs. (7) Srebotnik/Sugiyama
Perhaps two easy first matches but... it'll be rough sailing there on out.
Good luck girls

Re: Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
I'm going to shiver about her mixed doubles partner and draw. Jim Thomas, who once reached the 2nd round of mens doubles in 2002. He's very tall and it seems he's had some success in mens doubles, though not on clay. You never know really how the partnership will work. I'd be happy if they win a round here.
In singles, Birnerova is 5-13 this year, 1-5 on clay. Go Ai! I'd be happy with a 3rd round, and esctastic with a 4th round.

Re: Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
I feel exactly the same, Goai (BTW, what is your name?)
He's an average doubles specialist, but who knows? With no ad and a third-set tiebreaker, they have a chance against Huber & Ullyett.
If she justifies her seeding, I'll be really happy Hope she can challenge Chakvetadze.

Re: Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
In mixed, Ai/Jim Thomas lost 6-1 6-3 to Huber/Ullyett (sp?). It's nice she played this time. Maybe she could play at Wimbledon, though not with Mr. Thomas.

Re: Sugi's Adventures in Paris <---> Cheering Thread!
Ai lost to Chakvetadze 46 46
I'm so glad she justified her seeding
I'd love if Ai played with like, Mirnyi or Safin or something (I'm unrealistic)
Ai/Kata vs. Shahar/Dinara tomorrow on Court 1!
