Came back from 3-5 in the first set, making 11 out of 12 following points to serve the entering set out. After that some smaller rain break in which she called for her coach Tomai and complained about the condition of the surface.
She won the second set leading 4-2, got broken to 4 all, to break from 0-30 in the next game, serving it out to 0. Also some very nice winners and defense skills!
This match against Brianti is huge. If she can win this then anything that happens next week is just an added bonus. Winning a title would be great and this is a dream opportunity. I am very very optimistic to be honest. We need to put all celebrations on hold until the match is won but this does look very promising.
That final was disgusting... she was hardly hitting any winners or any shots to force Brianti into an error, she made like tons of double faults especially on important points. She fought all the way back to 45, missed a game point & folded with a double fault to give Brianti SP Better luck next time Simona.
Watched from 76 25. Medina Garrigues saved the SP with a BH DTL winner. Actually, AMG was the aggressive girl during these games I watched, getting herself in BH CC rallies and finishing up the point with a BH DTL winner a couple of times. I have no idea how Halep even got to 5-2, she was there just waiting for an UE, not trying to do much with the ball. Only her inside-out FH was doing some damage to AMG. Halep palyed a couple of good points to get a 3-0 lead in the TB with a FH inside out winner and a BH DTL winner, but after that AMG was dominating the points?! (just shows how Halep was being ) firing up some nice BH winners, since on her FH she can't actually make it, unless she gets a short ball. An aggressive top spinned CC FH forced the error to Halep, after she opened up the court with a CC BH to give her the win.
