iPhone jailbreaking (and all cell phone unlocking) made legal

Owners of iPhones and other smartphones are one step closer towards taking complete control of their gadgets, thanks to a new government ruling Monday on the practice of "jailbreaking."

This weekend has seen a flurry of activity about digital rights, but the biggest news dropped Monday morning, when the FCC announced that it had made the controversial practice of “jailbreaking” your iPhone — or any other cell phone — legal.

Jailbreaking — the practice of unlocking a phone (and particularly an iPhone) so it can be used on another network and/or run other applications than those approved by Apple — has technically been illegal for years. Most jailbroken phones are used on the U.S. T-Mobile network or on overseas carriers, or are used to run applications that Apple refuses to sell, such as Safari ad-blocking apps, alternate keyboard layouts, or programs that change the interface to the iPhone's SMS system and the way its icons are laid out.

While technically illegal, no one has been sued or prosecuted for the practice. (Apple does seriously frown on the practice, and jailbreaking your phone will still void your warranty.) It’s estimated that more than a million iPhone owners have jailbroken their handsets.

Apple fought hard against the legalization, arguing that jailbreaking was a form of copyright violation. The FCC disagreed, saying that jailbreaking merely enhanced the inter-operability of the phone, and was thus legitimate under fair-use rules.

The upshot is that now anyone can jailbreak or otherwise unlock any cell phone without fear of legal penalties, whether you want to install unsupported applications or switch to another cellular carrier. Cell phone companies are of course still free to make it difficult for you to do this — and your warranty will probably still be voided if you do — but at least you won’t be fined or imprisoned if you jailbreak a handset.

Honestly, seeing mods starting to take action about the usual mess that happens in GM is only a good thing. Good for nice posters and bad for trolls/haters, and I'm talking about every "faction"

:rolls: Bread is not that fattening. Depends on the portion and what you put on it.
And it's good to eat everything, as long as you do sports ;) I am too lazy atm to exercise :sobbing: I will do some sits ups. Better than going for a run when it's snowing and icing on roads

Don't talk about eating or gym, I gained 5 kgs between august and december and I'm the laziest person on earth :sobbing:
I'm just using the cold season as an excuse :rolls: I'll have to move my ass out of the house when it gets warmer

It's not really a pain, I can't really explain it. It's like weird feeling I have at times when I'm standing up for a while. It's not pleasant, but it doesn't hurt!

In six days I'll be sitting down in a class taking statistics :hysteric: I still don't know the results of the other one, but it went fine, so I'm not too concerned about it :)
What about you? Free at last or still studying?

be careful  that's how it started for me :sobbing:

six days... Oh good luck, you will ace it ;) good to now then ! ;)
I am free, but I have so many things to do.

Scholarships and location dossiers started this week and end on the 30th April. :hysteric: Basically I need to get it, to fill in it, and to send it to my current academy which will send it to the different academies I've asked for.

Basically, it has never been too tough for me as it's easy to ask a college at the first year, then they keep you till the end of the degree.. so 3 years (bachelor degree).
I only have 5 possibilities to ask for a student building in some city :sobbing: Like #1 Paris - Address 1 #2 Paris - Address 2 #3 Lyon Address 1 #4 Lyon Address 2 #5 Marseille Address 1

no more possibilities ! :help: and the thing is that well, a master degree is :
- hard to obtain, especially your #1 wish
- you need to ask a looot of master degrees just in case, and I am still confused about what I wanna do
- if I am refused in these 5 propositions but accepted to a master degree in Paris/Lyon whatever, where the fuck will I go? I won't be able to be in a student building as it's the only way to get in it. I will have to hunt an apartment, not too small (because I am planning on living in Paris next year for good) nor too expensive (because well still not working to make a living...)
- the soonest you ask the most likely you will be accepted so it means i need to already decide on a life importance decision, i mean this will determine my future job and career !

whatever :help:

Also, I made a deal with my professor (who is quite nice  ) : he writes me a good letter for my master degree admission, I attend all of his modules (ofc) and lectures (not even mandatory :tape: ) and score great grades at his classes. :rolls:

Ok! I will! Hopefully I'll bring good news on Monday! :hysteric:

Wow! It's quite complicated! :tape: good luck! I hope you'll get what you want in the end! I love the fact that you want to live full time in Paris! :hearts:

Yes !

Thanks  Yeah, I have two brothers living there, my best friend and some other friends... and my eldest bro lives 1hour away from Paris in the south so I will be able to visit him and his family a bit more often... :)

Ok I think I should watch some movies or tv show ;) Talk to you guys later !
