:wavey:

I noticed that Kiki did not have her own thread. But after her recent results I think she deserves one.

Re: Kiki Bertens

Not in the Barnstaple MD, so guess she is enjoying her well deserved Holiday now :)

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki has been nominated for the WTA Newcomer of the Year Award! :hearts:
Other nominees are Robson, Watson and Stephens!

Beining nominated is quite an honour
But she did have a great season. And unexpected as well. I mean Laura and Sloane were promising juniors who people knew about and were expected to do well.

EDIT: Robson won the WTA Newcomer of the Year Award.

Re: Kiki Bertens

First tournaments for 2013 will be:

31/12 WTA Auckland
06/01 WTA Sydney or WTA Hobart
14/01 Australian Open

And Fed Cup after that.

Hobart would be a better choice for her I think :cheer:

Re: Kiki Bertens

Impossible to say anything about the outcome of this match. Sveta's last match was at Wimbledon.
I can see some chances in the draw for Kiki if she's able to win her 1st match

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki def Sveta 6-7 (5) 6-2 7-5 :)
Could have finished it earlier in the final set, but she said she was a bit nervous. She was serving at 4-2 in that final set. Can't remember if she had a GP in that game.

63% 1st serves in (63% for Sveta)
68% points won on 1st serve (61%)
7 aces / 10 DF (3 aces / 8 DF)
23 FH winners (6)
5 BH winners (8)
9 net points won (5)
49 UE (51)

There was one shot in the 1st set, that was too GOAT by Kiki

It was somewhere in the 1st set when Kuznetsova angled Kiki outside the court and Kiki just smacked a forehand at rocket speed into the corner DTL  :hearts:
I remember that one. Crazy shot. Her FH DTL was really working today. Also loved her returns

Re: Kiki Bertens

Next up is Heather Watson. She defeated Cirstea by retirement in the 1st round.
Interesting match. Kiki leads the H2H by 1-0. Had a victory over Heather in Luxembourg 2011, but alot has changed since then for both ladies.
Kiki has a chance, but needs to keep the UE's down.
Kom op Kiki :yeah:

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki def. Watson 64/36/63 :yeah:
Next up: Jamie Hampton

They will play 7.30PM Auckland time on CC. So that's 7.30 AM CET :D

Re: Kiki Bertens

Great win and a great way to start the season with a WTA QF :D
If she defeats Hampton I do think she has to let go of the Sydney Q, because that starts on Friday I think.

But defeating Hampton would give her even more points than qualifying for the MD of Sydney so please roll on Kiki :cheer:

Re: Kiki Bertens

Really nice win there again from Kiki :yeah: Off to a good start this season. Good for her confidence.
Chances in the QF as well. I like both Kiki and Jamie, but I’m cheering for Kiki :cheer:

Re: Kiki Bertens

Lost 16 76(5) 26...

Had a linecall against her on breakpoint for her down 2-4* in the 3rd, lost the game and then lost her serve.
She also had a breakpoint in the 1st game of the 3rd set but didn't take it.

She fought hard but just to many UE's, she had like 60 or so :hysteric: Some unbelievable winners too but thats not enough against Hampton who played pretty solid.
