iPhone jailbreaking (and all cell phone unlocking) made legal

Owners of iPhones and other smartphones are one step closer towards taking complete control of their gadgets, thanks to a new government ruling Monday on the practice of "jailbreaking."

This weekend has seen a flurry of activity about digital rights, but the biggest news dropped Monday morning, when the FCC announced that it had made the controversial practice of “jailbreaking” your iPhone — or any other cell phone — legal.

Jailbreaking — the practice of unlocking a phone (and particularly an iPhone) so it can be used on another network and/or run other applications than those approved by Apple — has technically been illegal for years. Most jailbroken phones are used on the U.S. T-Mobile network or on overseas carriers, or are used to run applications that Apple refuses to sell, such as Safari ad-blocking apps, alternate keyboard layouts, or programs that change the interface to the iPhone's SMS system and the way its icons are laid out.

While technically illegal, no one has been sued or prosecuted for the practice. (Apple does seriously frown on the practice, and jailbreaking your phone will still void your warranty.) It’s estimated that more than a million iPhone owners have jailbroken their handsets.

Apple fought hard against the legalization, arguing that jailbreaking was a form of copyright violation. The FCC disagreed, saying that jailbreaking merely enhanced the inter-operability of the phone, and was thus legitimate under fair-use rules.

The upshot is that now anyone can jailbreak or otherwise unlock any cell phone without fear of legal penalties, whether you want to install unsupported applications or switch to another cellular carrier. Cell phone companies are of course still free to make it difficult for you to do this — and your warranty will probably still be voided if you do — but at least you won’t be fined or imprisoned if you jailbreak a handset.

YES :) Was happy they loved Maria and Serena's looks

OMG this is probably a stupid question but how on earth did the rumor about Maria come to life?? She doesn't give me that vibe at all and is probably the most feminine player in the wta

Why are you all acting like a bunch of sorority sisters?

Maybe Maria and Grigor are going out, but let's not have a coronary

I would love if they were a couple. The only possible hotter tennis couple would be Grigor/Tsveti, or Dani/Rafa :hearts:

The Maria being a lesbian thing was mainly a joke that was kept going with the whole 'Maria and Serena are secretly dating' and it's became a long running joke, although now the haters/trolls are trying to latch on to it and troll with it.

I'm sure there were rumours before that, ie Camille Belle but most female athletes have their sexuality questioned.

Not at all, it wasn't a joke it was a rumor and it was mainly around in the Belle era.
It did not nearly start from that silly joke/thread about Serena.
And saying someone is a lesbian is totally the thing to say if you hate her, right?

What the actual fuck? :sobbing: Mess. :spit:

I like her "212" :rolls:

Yup. He's been "nice" and playing the victim ever since will.i.am did everyone a favor and punched him.

I like Azalea Banks a lot, and if she lost her deal over it that's pretty dumb. Tons of rappers are homophobes. It doesn't make it right, but why make an example out of her?

I hope Grigor doesn't make Maria flop.

And not yall talking with your dicks and saying he could do well this year  His backhand is atrocious and unless he improves he will always flop

Not yall saying he's gonna be big. His backhand is atrocious
Are you kidding, some of his backhands in the SF vs Baghdatis were
ofc thats on a good day, but when he plays well his game is really beautiful to watch. And I actually think if this relationship is true it might relax Masha more tbh, though somehow I don't think he'll be in her box when she's playing

And Azealia Banks should just get off twitter and make some music. She still hasn't got a hit yet she spends all her time beefing on twitter. She promises fans that she'll release new music yet delays the release for months because she too busy beefing on twitter. A Nicole Flopzinger mess.

She's only harming her own career at this point.

Afaik, the Maria lesbian rumours originated from this unfortunate picture:

That's literally all the "evidence" Other than that, the theory is simply based on the fact she hung out with Camilla a lot (because no straight 20-something women do that), and that she has broad shoulders.

And I don't mind people claiming she's a lesbian per se (even if there's no evidence whatsoever to support it), I just find Jimmie48's argument that she was DEFINITELY a lesbian to be an illogical mess
