I will be going to the Ohio State one!! If it rains, they will come to the indoor center, my workplace!

#5 ·
I don't find any familiar names on other circuits, but

Midwest, Michigan;

Julia Metzger, Maggie Remynse, Hanna Mar, Melissa Kopinski.

Duke-bound Mar defeated Metzger 1&1  and she was

in turn defeated by Yale-bound Annie Sullivan(ranked 37th), who won it all.

And Sara Remynse was the finalist.

Quarterfinalists were;

Metzger Mar Raymond Sullivan Kopinski Young Hois Remynse

and still no entry list or draw for Ventura which starts today :sobbing:

The winner of each of the Summer Circuit Event goes on to the Summer Championships forming a draw of 32. But does anyone know what happens when someone like Lacey Smyth wins 2 events? Does a runner-up who lost to Smyth like UCI's Kristina Smith or Zoe DeBrucker take one of those entries into the Summer Championships? :help:

Hey Form Michelle Murphy played the Ventura CC Event both singles and doubles. Do you know if Murphy will be playing for UCSB this upcoming season?

from ma blog;

SMITH def HEMM 4-6, 7-5, 10-4

Wow. At first Hemm was clearly outclassing Smith, Smith couldn't seem to handle Hemm's power strokes and had some UEs.
So left to see other matches.
Later was shocked to discover Smith playing the Quarterfinal against Wetmore :sobbing:

WETMORE def MCINTOSH 6-2, 6-2

RAMOS def WEBB 6-2, 6-2?

Couldn't watch those 2 matches due to unfavorable court locations.

ENTEKHABI def BHARGAVA 6-2, 6-7, 10-4

Ditto. Watched from far~~~ away :sobbing: The match was brutally long

WALTERS def LEWIS 2,1

Also couldn't see due to reclusive location.

HARROW def DECKER-SADOWSKI 4,0

Was a bit hard to watch, a bit far.
Anyway today wasn't D-S's day, committed too many UEs.

MACKEY def WORKMAN 1,2

ELLISON def PROVANCHA 3,1

Ellison was the more powerful..

-----------
QUARTERFINALS

SMITH def WETMORE 6-1, 6-1

Wetmore ball bashed herself to defeat :sobbing:

RAMOS def ENTEKHABI 0,1

Also was held far away but Ramos seemed to blow E off the court..maybe
E was too spent after the brutal rally against Bhargava.

WALTERS def HARROW 4,2

W was just better.

ELLISON def MACKEY 0,2

It was a battle of weird serve motions.

Ellison did her usual thing and Mackey...she performed the 'Wolf' , bouncing
the ball, leg-through before serving

So the semifinal will be;

SMITH vs RAMOS
WALTERS vs ELLISON

Well, a predictable outcome, I guess.

DOUBLES

PANTIC/GAYTAN-LEACH def D-S/HARROW

The latter team fought well, they definitely had touch and control.
I think at some time they deliberately targeted G-L
But G-L's serve was good, and they at the later stage came to dominate the net and
made lots of overheads and easy putaways.

BHARGAVA/WATLERS def RAMOS/WETMORE

Pepp team was the better team, not much to say.

I was at the Ohio State one because the indoor center is my workplace, as I stated before. I had my own tournament going on, but I was glad to see some of the Buckeyes play. I was impressed with Kara Cecil, who just won an ITA as well as a local event (I thought I heard her say this is her 5th event either of the summer or in a row). She played Kimmy Borza and it was 6-3,6-0 to Kara, but it was close. Kara should have played better and I heard her mutter "this has got to be a joke " After the match, she said she got annoyed when her opponent kept asking some questions (where are you from, how do you like school, and my favorite was her pointing out her grandpa, who at one point fell asleep, and calling him cute :haha: )
I was also impressed with Nicole Flower and we had a nice, long chat. Also, I got to see Fidan Manashirova play and although she just oozes talent, she is really erratic and inconsistent.

 Don't say the opponent did that DURING the match :haha:

And Flower? Is her sister Kirsten?

from the blog;

I'm SO glad I overcame the temptation not to come. :bigcry:

All 3 remaining MD matches were a blast. :)

MD SEMI

RAMOS def SMITH

It was close. Smith really is a good player. Can hit well, move well..can flatten
out, can hit on the run...net play (volley) wasn't perfect, but still. Really patient too.

Ramos seemed to be poised to win it easily but Smith soon caught up. But still Ramos was the more powerful, and that paid off at the latter crucial stages. Hitting
with both hands, aggressive, nice drive-volley, can occasionally make a wicked angled-shot...Ramos kinda reminds me of Bartoli. Her slice wasn't bad either and she used drop shots effectively from time to time (since her shots are powerful, all the more effective)

WALTERS def ELLISON

The match of the day.

I thought I was watching a pro match.

Uber-fast rallies

Sierra Ellison. My god I was reminded of Sharapova at times.

Does she also hit with both hands like Ramos? Anyway her drives was..wow.

Could hit flat and to the corner at will and, seemed to effectively carry her weight through her shots..and being tall..that's why I was reminded of Masha. Just an
AWESOME sight.

Still, overall Walters was the more consistent one, and her drives were also good.
I knew THAT, but today Walters made so relatively few errors, unlike her last season
And especially her DTL shots were pretty effective today, I think.

CONSOLATION

DILLON won the remaining two matches. Clearly the better player, more consistent and could hit power shots too.

SINGLES MD FINAL

WALTERS def RAMOS

Also a close game. I think Walters won the 1st, Ramos won the 2nd 7-6, and went to a tiebreak. Both were hitting winners right and left  At the end Ramos made a few more UEs and it decided the outcome.

DOUBLES SEMI

ELLISONS def HEMM / MCINTOSH

Hemm's volleys were good (She won the Pomona Circuit last year with Rosekrans), and McIntosh could hit powerful flat shots, but just couldn't overcome
Ellisons' pressure.
They're pretty aggressive, always stepping up to the net whenever possible. Since they're both tall, and their volleys are good, they provide extra pressure to the opponents.

BHARGAVA / WALTERS def GAYTAN-LEACH / PANTIC , ELLISONS

Both matches were kinda similar. Pepperdine's defense was GOOD (especially
Bhargava's net defense was just FANTASTIC ), and they effectively used all court, neutralizing the opponent's offensive game.

Fantic... what is link to your blog?

Dillon & Wetmore? Where are they going to school and playing now?

I am very very very HAPPY for Smith doing sonwell. This further exposes the annual UCI stack is exposed. There were three this year:
- The one armed bandit at # 3 (UCI coach tried to put her at # 2... then told BW coaches she was really # 3)
- Holladay and Kwan in doubles at # 1... never won sh*t... put them at # 3 and UCI loses day one. Incredible... wait this his "doubles specialist" Holladay is no longer # 1 in doubles but likely OUT.
- Smith at # 6... very good and 21-2 in spring... 13-1 at 4 & 5... against better compeition (and don't tell me she's better than Kwan... crock)... and Bartlett always loses.

Me guesses Coach Cheater ain't happy for this exposure. At least now Smith will be exposed and maybe the BW coaches will finally step up and get some guts besides the LB coach...

PS... Smith should have been # 4 last year and likely # 3 this year with Bisharat jetting for LMU. She's a very good player. PLAY IT STRAIGHT UP FOR ONE COACH..............

You can't spell ch'EATERS without UCI 'EATERS

Hammel was down at match point but # 1 saved her tail... as with Bartlett who was down, umm, match point also. FACT CHECK

Coach Edles has more than a decade of line up cheating in BW notes and votes... he just finally went deep enough to now be 1 for 13. That's the kind of people UCI CHEATERS are proud of. Sad, very sad.

Form next are going to ask tennisbuddy12 the link to his blog and when it was last updated? :haha:

Having a match point doesn't guarantee a win. Anna Jezmionka was up 5-2 in the 3rd set vs Pepperdine and had a match point to secure LBS an NCAA at-large but committed one of the biggest chokes in Big West history. :help:

Not that it really matters but some people turn-off signatures so they wouldn't be able to see the link to blogs.

Back to tennis, is Wetmore playing tennis at Georgetown? Given that she was cut from the UCLA team, I wonder why she wasn't granted permission to play right away for Georgetown and have to sit out for a year.

Tennisace you bring up a good point but that doesn't apply to Form.

Form obviously was able to see my signature and that's what prompted Form to create a signature of his own.

Most likely Wetmore finished her senior year at UCLA in 2009-10 and is playing for Georgetown as a grad student.

Kwan was actually a pretty good player in High School, i remember watching her during CIF in San Diego. She had impressive wins most notably against Nadia Abdala, who just graduated from ASU. Im not sure if her tennis progress during her time at UCI, but i did except a lot more from her.
